    Faculty of Science Organizes 2nd Employment Fair

    In a move to provide employers seeking qualified personnel and individuals seeking employment an opportunity to interact, the Faculty of Science, Fayoum University, organized its Second Employment Fair, May 14th. The fair was inaugurated by Governor of Fayoum Ahmed Ali and President of Fayoum University Professor Abdel Hamid Abdel Tawab Sabry. The event was attended by Professor Magdy Hanna, Vice-President, Postgraduate Studies and Research, Professor Farid Awad, Vice-President, Community Service and Environment Development, and representatives of a number of industry firms, businessmen, directors of some factories, and some research centers. The fair witnessed participation of a number of agencies and companies, including Fayoum Governorate, Pharaohs Ceramic Factory, the Egyptian Minerals and Salts Company, the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, Fayoum Holding Company for Water and Waste Water, Karoon Protected Area, Wadi Al Rayyan Protected Area, Valley of Whales Protected Area, Sila Edible Oils Co., Tabin Institute for Metallurgical Studies (TMS), Pharco Pharmaceuticals, Gulf Of Suez Petroleum Co. (GUPCO), Central Metallurgical Research Institute (CMRDI), Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs, Fayoum Environmental Affairs Sector, Fayoum National Clay Bricks & Building Materials, Sidi Kerir Petrochemicals – SIDPEC, Housing and Building National Research Center, and the Egyptian Iron and Steel Company. In his address, the University President stressed the importance of holding such career fairs on a regular basis to provide job seekers with job openings. He also gave his directives to form alumni associations for each faculty. Speaking during the fair, Fayoum Governor accentuated the importance of imbuing graduates with the required skills to be more employable. At the end of the event, the University President and his companions handed job contracts for 40 graduates. Also, a number of cooperation protocols have been signed between the Faculty of Science and the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, Fayoum Holding Company for Water and Waste Water, Wadi Al Rayyan Protected Area, Tabin Institute for Metallurgical Studies (TMS), Pharco Pharmaceuticals, Central Metallurgical Research Institute (CMRDI), Fayoum National Clay Bricks & Building Materials, and Sidi Kerir Petrochemicals – SIDPEC. Also, on the sidelines of the event, Fayoum Governor and the University President held a meeting with representatives of the participating agencies and institutions and the Faculty of Science Council to look at career options and study the needs of the current labor market.
