Egypt-South Korea Cultural Day at Fayoum University |

In conjunction with the Korean Cultural Center of the Embassy of South Korea in Cairo, Fayoum University organized Egypt-South Korea Cultural Day at the Central Library Main Hall on Wednesday 10/12/2014. Present at the event were Professor Khaled Ismael Hamza, President of Fayoum University, Professor Ahmed Gaber Shedid, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Professor Farid Awad Hedar, Vice President for Community Service and Environment Development, and Professor Park Yung, Director for Cultural and Media at the South Korean Cultural Center. In his remarks, President Khaled Hamza stressed the importance of creating integration with different countries, adding that Egypt is adopting an open-door policy in its foreign relations in different domains. "In the same way, Fayoum University is looking forward to opening new cooperation channels with international universities, in general, and Korean universities, in particular," he said. He also declared that the South Korean Government would offer some scholarship for university students. Taking the floor, Professor Gaber Shedid gave a detailed presentation about the historical relations between Egypt and South Korea. He also said: "This is the first time for Fayoum University to host the Egypt-South Korea Cultural Day and this is a great opportunity for us all to become familiar with the Korean culture and traditions." He also noted that Fayoum University would work with different Korean universities in the field of student mobility. Speaking during the event, Professor Farid Hedar highlighted the positive impact of cultural interaction among civilizations and nations. He said: "Integration of civilizations can be a tool towards progress and welfare." The event also featured a speech by Professor Park Yung who voiced his delight for being at Fayoum University. He also said that he was educated at Al-Azhar University, pointing out he owes a lot to his professors. He furthermore gave a lecture about the Korean Culture. ? |
