The seminar was held at the Hall of Said Soliman.
The seminar was attended by a number of dignitaries, namely: Professor Mohammad El-Khaleely Barakat, Vice-President for Post-Graduate Studies and Research, Professor Mahmoud Shendy, director of Fayoum University Projects Management Unit, Prof. Amal Rabie, DSASP director, and Dr. Mahmoud Al-Sofy, DSASP executive manager. A crowd of deans, vice-deans and teaching staff members was present.
The proceedings of the lecture commenced with a recitation of some verses of the Holy Quran, followed by a presentation, given by Prof. Mahmoud Shendy, about the DSAS, its objectives, its administrative and executive structures. The DSAS aims to enhance the quality of teaching and learning via developing students' assessment systems, he commented.
Speaking at the lecture, Prof. Amal Rabie sent a cable of sincere thanks to all those who contributed to the project. She also tackled the obstacles which faced the project in its first quarter; however, she mentioned the achievements attained, namely: forming the administrative and executive structures of the project, studying the status quo of the current assessment systems.
Among the speakers was Prof. Mohammad El-Khaleely, who voiced his delight with the project and accentuated the need for going ahead towards technology and proper assessment. "Assessment is foremost in the educational process, so we must have a neutral system for assessment," he said.
Following, Prof. Salahedine Mahmoud Allam took the floor. He expressed his happiness for being at Fayoum University and for being invited to lecture on how to build item banks that have been used in many countries, pointing out the importance of item banks in the educational process.
