A Workshop on Smart Networks and Energy Management Systems at Fayoum University

Under the patronage of Prof. Ashraf Abd El-Hafeez, Acting President of Fayoum University, Prof. Mohamed Eesa, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, accompanied by Prof. Jihan Abdel Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, witnessed a workshop entitled "Smart Networks and Energy Management Systems" on Sunday, 3 February 2019, at the College of Engineering Council Hall. The workshop was attended by Dr. Islam Hilali, Supervisor of Industrial Engineering Department and Eng. Khallaf Rushdi, Director General of Electricity Rationalization Department, Middle Egypt Co., Eng. Nelly Ahmed, Director of Technical Specifications Department, Middle Egypt Co., Eng. Ayman Azzam, Director of Sun Rise for Solar Energy Co. and the research project team of electricity rationalisation and new and renewable energy.
Prof. Mohamed Eesa explained that this workshop is one of the activities of the research project, which is a pilot model for evaluating the potential benefits of using smart networks in Egypt's energy demand and distribution systems and funded by The National Telecom Regulatory Authority of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
He also praised the administration of the faculty and the fruitful and continuous cooperation between all its departments and the effort it exerted to provide the favourable conditions for the project, hoping all attendees could make full use of the workshop.
Prof. Jihan Abdurrahman noted that the workshop will address several axes, namely the summary of the research project and ways to rationalize electricity and new and renewable energy. In addition, she emphasized the need to use smart and environmentally friendly systems applications for energy sustainability and having access to it from available and accessible sources, along with modernizing the electric power supply systems to be able to work efficiently equipped with advanced monitoring and protection devices and equipped to operate their components.
