Detailed Report about the Visit of Minister of Higher Education & Minister of Education and the Supreme Council of Universities Meeting

Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education, Technical Education and Training, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansary Fayoum Governor, and Prof. Ahmed Gaber Shedid, President of Fayoum University, inaugurated a number of university facilities at Fayoum University on Saturday, 26/12/2020.
The openings began with the opening of the new building of the Institute for Research and Strategic Studies for the Nile Basin Countries, Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar listened to a detailed explanation from Prof. Kamal Ghallab, Acting Dean of the Institute for Research and Strategic Studies for the Nile Basin Countries, about the institute that was established by Prime Minister Decree No. 628 of the year 2013 as unique institute in its research methods, adding that the new building cost 47 million pounds and consists of 6 floors including 7 teaching halls with a capacity of 400 seats, a conference room with a capacity of 143 people and two rooms for immediate translation, in addition to three research laboratories, two computer labs, and a soil and water analysis laboratory.
Then Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar inaugurated the Epidemic and Disease Control Center, where Prof. Ahmed Gaber Shedid stated that the center is the first of its kind at the level of Egyptian universities and is dedicated to conducting applied research locally and internationally in cooperation with leading organizations in dealing with epidemics, adding that the center aims to develop medical results, scientific research, epidemiological surveillance, and monitor health threats and disease outbreaks to provide research with medical results that address the needs of society.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research also inaugurated the new building of Faculty of Computers and Information. Prof. Rania Abo El-Soud, Dean of Faculty of Computers and Information, stated that the new building consists of 5 floors and a ground floor and includes 3 terraces and 14 laboratories on an area of 1500 meters, and it has been completed, during the month of June 2020, at a cost of about 40 million pounds.
Also Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar inaugurated the branch of the Egyptian University for E-Learning in Fayoum University in presence of Prof. Hisham Abdel Salam, President of the Egyptian University for E-Learning. Prof. Ahmed Gaber Shedid indicated that the study is in the branch of the Egyptian University for e-learning includes two programs: Computers and Information Technology Program and Business Administration Program, adding that the university branch includes a teaching hall that accommodates 120 students and is equipped with the latest technology, in addition to smart screens equipped with an integrated unit for broadcasting and reception, in addition to a computer lab that includes 30 computers and a classroom.
The central building for terraces was also opened, which is divided into 4 small halls on an area of 300 meters and accommodates about 250 students, 4 large halls on an area of 2000 meters and accommodates about 800 students, in addition to 5 seminar halls on an area of 400 meters and accommodates about 135 students at a cost of 45 one million pound.
Finally, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research inaugurated the Physical Fitness, Movement Rehabilitation and Physiological Measurements Unit, where Prof. Hamdi Nour El-din, Dean of Faculty of Physical Education, provided a full explanation of the unit, referring to its area of 520 meters at a cost exceeding nine million pounds and includes a rehabilitation section for movement and recovery, in addition to a sauna, jacuzzi, steam bath, two hydrotherapy pools, the latest fitness equipment, an integrated gymnasium for exercises and a physiological measurements department, which will provide service for sports scientific research fields.
For his part, Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar praised the achievements he witnessed to be added to the educational process of Fayoum University, expressing his happiness at the remarkable development he witnessed during the visit that contributes to improving the educational process and activates the university’s role in achieving societal development for the people of the governorate, thanking Prof. Ahmed Gaber Shedid for hosting the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities by Fayoum University, praising the warm reception and good organization.
Prof. Ahmed Gaber Shedid also expressed the happiness of the Fayoum University family at the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities in its area, stressing the university’s role in community development and its keenness to implement the directives of the Supreme Council of Universities for the comprehensive development of all elements of the educational system, pointing to a breakthrough in the development of the university system, which is appeared evidently in the new facilities that were opened today at Fayoum University.
Then Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and President of the Supreme Council of Universities, Prof. Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education, Technical Education and Training, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansary, Fayoum Governor, Prof. Ahmed Gaber Shedid, President of Fayoum University, and presidents of all the Egyptian universities went to the Regional Training Center (NORIAS) of Fayoum University on the shores of Qaroun Lake to hold the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities for the month December 2020.
After the council meeting, Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held a press conference in presence of a large number of journalists and media professionals, during which he confirmed that the ministry had reassured that all universities had taken all the recommended precautionary measures, and university hospitals had completed all their preparations, including formations of medical teams, nursing teams, and the availability of all medicines and medical analyzes, adding that 115 university hospitals nationwide have been linked into a unified medical and service system, indicating that coordination is being made periodically with the concerned Ministry of Health departments and hospitals to confront the emerging Corona virus pandemic.
Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar indicated that it was agreed with Prof. Tarek Shawky on the model of the new e-learning platform as well as the system for automating examination systems, stressing that there is no truth to what has been circulated today about postponing mid-year exams and that the academic year will be completed with taking all precautionary measures and preventive measures, taking into account the postponement of exams for students who were infected with the emerging corona virus.
He also announced the approval of the Supreme Council of Universities to establish Hurghada University to be the fourth university to be approved in the previous period, alongside Luxor University, New Valley University and Matrouh University.
On the sidelines of the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities at Fayoum University, the ministers inaugurated the plastic art exhibition for the art of drawing by Prof. Ahmed Fathy Al-Ayyat, the Former Dean of Faculty of Specific Education, where the exhibition included 20 works of art representing models of the artist's development stages, starting from the realistic stage through the surrealism and the abstract,reaching the expressive stage, which summarizes the artist's philosophy in his handling of the elements and vocabulary.
Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffarm, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansary, Prof. Ahmed Gaber Shedid and the university presidents, attended an artistic concert for Fayoum University choir that included a number of patriotic songs and various religious hymns.
