- During the period October 27-29, 2008, Islamic Philosophy Department is to hold the 1st International Conference entitled ""Renewal of the Contemporary Islamic Thought – its approaches and elements". The conference is held under the auspices of president of Fayoum University, dean of Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Arafat Al Qadi, head of Islamic Philosophy Department.
Conference Objectives:
- Highlighting the status of the Islamic thought and its contemporary status in the modern era
- Showing the importance of renewal and its impact in the contemporary reality
- Clarifying the relationship between the modern and contemporary Islamic thought with the dialogue of civilizations and religions
- Demonstrating the ability of the contemporary Islamic thought to coexist as well as confronting the challenges
- Depicting the ability of the modern and contemporary Islamic thought to lead the nation towards constructing a future characterized by power and clear vision

-A round table discussion in the evening of the second day on the issue of human rights in the Islamic thought
