Workshop on "E-Course Production: Challenges and Impediments"

On Monday 13/10/2008 Professor Ahmed El Gohary, President of Fayoum University held a meeting with Professor Nabila Mohammad Hassan, Director of E-Learning Project to review the progress attained in converting courses into electronic courses. The meeting was attended by Professor Mohammad El-Khaleey, Vice-President for Postgraduate Studies and Research. A host of academics were also present.

The meeting addressed the criteria that govern converting traditional courses into electronic ones, the copyrights, and revenues. "We already have some electronic course, but criteria must be developed to referee these courses objectively," Professor El-Khaleely said.

On the other hand, academics from theoretical faculties complained of the inconvenience of adopting the criteria already used to referee scientific courses to referee humanities. In this regard, Professor El Gohary decided to form a committee to be composed of academics from the Faculties of Social Work, Arts, and Dar Al Uloom, to develop standards that can be used to referee such theoretical courses.

At the end of the workshop, El Gohary disclosed that the University would honor those teaching staff members who had submitted their courses to the E-Learning Project to be converted into electronic ones.
