Social Work Research Center
    • The faculty council recommended in the session held on Feb.24th 1996 the approval of center's statute after being sumbitted to the president of the university.
• The university’s vice president submitted the statute to the university president after being reviewed by the university legal council and approved by society services and environment development council in June 9th ,1996.

• In October 17th ,1996, The Supreme Council for Universities issued resolution No.158 which stipulated the establishment of the Social Work Research and Community Development Center at the Faculty of Social Work, Fayoum University. It is considered a center with special tasks, and is financially, administratively and technically independent. Second: The center's purposes and activities can be summarized as follows:

1. Conducting different social researches related to the rural and urban development.

2. Arranging workshops, forums, and conferences concerned with the social rural and urban development.

3. Organizing g training courses in various social fields.

4. Establishing an information system for the social policies and plans, and designing programs and social projects related to rural and urban development.

5. Planning and implementing programs and social projects for the development of the rural and urban community.

6. Providing individuals, groups, and various institutions in society with consultations in the fields of social work.

7. Supplying the concerned authorities with the outcomes of the social researches conducted by the center. Third:Taskes performed by the center: The center had signed an agreement with the Organization for Reconstruction and Development of Egyptian Villages during the financial year 2002-2003, to implement the development activity plans of "Shoruk Program" (eg. technical support- training- education-enlightenment - studies- information). Accordingly, the technical support at the regional level for (15) governorate had been entrusted to the center. The center provided the required technical support and technical advice for Shrouk committees and woman committees at all levels (governorate- district- local units). It also supported the role of Shrouk's representatives in development, and encouraged them to perform their activities and their specified roles for developing their local communities, besides implementing some various unique activities such as (awareness raising forums, forums for reduction of water consumption, athletic activities, artistic and cultural activities, illiteracy elimination) to the selected local units. These taskes are guided by the governorate scientifc coordinator. During the financial year of 2003-2004, the Center has made an agreement with the Organization for Reconstruction and Development of Egyptian Villages on the level of eight governorates. The agreement includes the following tasks to be performed by the Center:

1. Providing technical support for Shrouk committees, woman committees, Shrouk's representatives in local settings.

2. Supporting the developmental role of Shrouk's committee representatives in the development of their local communities.

3. Implementing some unique developmental activities such as (cultural activities, athletic activities, computer training courses, reduction of water consumption forums) to the nine selected local units.

4. Holding three workshops at the level of (governorate-district- town- city- local units- subsidiary villages) in each of the nine governorates to maximize the use of these workshops and cover the topics discussed in them. Participants get published material that can cover the topics of discussion. The average number of the participants in each workshop ranges between (25-30). Participants are prominent representatives of Shrouk's committees at all the local levels, some leaders, non-governmental organizations representatives, the private and public sector representatives, literate youths at the villages, female leaders and some developmental institutions at each level. The governorate's scientific coordinator administers the workshop.
