The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) announced that doors are now open for nominations for the Ibn Khaldoun and Léopold Sédar Senghor Translation Award 2012 for Arabic to French translations.

Eligibility
- Nominations are accepted from translators who comply with the award conditions, as well as from universities and institutes for higher education, studies and research centers in the Arab world and the Francophone world, national associations in Arab countries and in the Francophone world, prominent individuals in this field, and publishing houses.

-Nominations for the 2012 session are accepted for one or more translated books from Arabic into French in the field of humanities.
-Nominated works must be first time translations: they must be translations from the original texts.

All translations must be accompanied by the following documents:
- A bio-data of the nominated translator;
- 8 copies of each nominated work;
- 1 copy of the original work;
- A summary in Arabic and French of the book or books translated which includes the work’s contribution to mutual culture introduction.

* The deadline for submission of nominated works is 31 December 2012.

It is worth mentioning that winners receive a certificate signed by the Director-General of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO) and the Secretary-General of the International Organization of La Francophonie, and a cash prize amounting to US$10,000.
