| - The Egyptian Academy of Sciences (EAS) announces the beginning of experts registration in its database to take advantage of their experience in implementing projects, conducting studies related to national issues, doing valuable and objective reports of high standards of technical and scientific quality to consult the scientific community and political decision makers in fields of science and technology, health, environment, and humanitarian, social and economic issues, etc…. Missions -Setting out studies of strategic planning for science and technology in Egypt in coordination with the Ministry of Scientific Research so as to have a kind of integrity with the policies of the Higher Council for Science and Technology - Preparing the necessary studies to identify areas of national research priority and updating it regularly - Conducting studies in the fields of modern and future sciences or basic researches of applied aspects which are commensurate with the orientations of national development in order to serve all parties of science and technology system in Egypt - Providing scientific and technical assistance, consultancies and economic feasibility studies for individuals and bodies * Periodic evaluation of the status of science and technology in different research areas and comparing it with other states * Preparation of studies for the development of academy's performance to reach the best optimum (independent non-governmental body and the selection of all the council members through elections) * Scientific councils are supposed to put these missions into effect. * Formation of scientific committees and subcommittees : -Life sciences (medicine – pharmacy ……..) - Basic natural sciences (physics - chemistry - mathematics - biology – geology ….) - Engineering sciences (industry - information technology - housing and construction - transportation - communications ...) - Ecology (pollution - water sources ....) - Agricultural Sciences & Food and Nutrition (crops - fisheries - livestock - food industries technology...) - Energy and Mineral Resources (oil - electricity - new and renewable energy - mineral resources..) - Energy and Mineral Resources (oil - electricity - new and renewable energy - mineral resources..) - New and environmental science (advanced materials - biotechnology – environmental sciences…) are included in the formations of the previous committees - Social sciences and population (globalization - human behavior - cultural ties - a dialogue of cultures and religions - crisis management - ethics of scientific research ...) - Economic and administrative sciences (society and Egyptian institutions - social changes and government bodies - new and influential management systems...) - Education, scientific research, culture and scientific knowledge (discrimination centers - quality assurance in education - simplifying science - translation - science museums and clubs - scientific competitions - symposia and conferences..) * Criteria for selecting members of the scientific committees : - Accumulated experience (scientific and administrative positions - the discussion of scientific theses - arbitration of research and projects….) - Membership of scientific and technical committees - Scientific Production (published research, books and translation - overseeing the dissertations….) - Participation in research and applied projects locally and internationally - Membership in international bodies and organizations as well as scientific associations and unions - Rewards and recognition Council of Planning and Studies (CPS) *Formation CPS is encompassed of 15 members and includes the chairs of scientific councils (9) as well as (6) of the distinguished scholars who are called (fellows) who are selected through elections. *Missions - Ratifying the formation of scientific subcommittees of each scientific council - Proposing to conduct the necessary studies in different scientific areas -Proposing conventions on scientific and technological cooperation with other academies and foreign counterparts and identifying areas of cooperation in addition to preparing a proposal to set up committees to examine, evaluate and monitor the execution of the proposed cooperation projects -Drawing out studies for the development of academy's performance to reach the best optimum (independent non-governmental body and the selection of all the council members through elections) **Very soon, the academy will announce the Program of National Academic Studies (PNAS) in which the experts can take part. - The database of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Academy contains a plethora of data and personal information about a large spectrum of experts and scholars who can update their personal information easily.
