9-10th April 2008
    For the second consecutive year and in collaboration with the Egyptian Sports Federation, Fayoum University organized the 35th Egyptian Universities Weightlifting Championship from 9th April to 10th April Fayoum Stadium hosted the proceedings of the championship. 

 Under the patronage of:

- Prof. Dr. Hani Helal - Minister of Higher Education and State for Scientific Research, and board chief of the Egyptian Universities Sports Federation .

- Prof. Dr. Galal M. Said – President of Fayoum University .

The following members supervised the championship:

-Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yusuf Al Qadi – Vice-president for Education and Students, and the Championship General Supervisor

-Prof. Dr. Samir Seif Al Yazzal – Dean of Faculty of agriculture and General Coordinator of University Student Activities – Artistic Supervision

- Mr. Saleh Sayed Gomaa – University Secretary General  - Artistic Supervision.

 - Ms. Nadia Aref – General Manager of Youth Welfare - Artistic Supervision

  Rules governing weight lifting during the championship  

-The technical conference defines each weight class

-Universities are allowed two persons per weight; at most 8 players.

-Weight Committee should be received 10 cards from each team; 8 players are weighed at first before staring the body weighting by half an hour

 Weight classes are as follows

65kg – 62 kg – 69kg

77kg – 85kg – 94 kg

105kg – 105+kg - The lifter is weighed in the weight class in which he is registered

*The trainer or the couch is allowed to accompany the lifter during weighting

*The lifter who does not attend the technical conference is deleted from the weight class

*The lifter is not allowed to alter his weight class after being registered in the technical conference
