FU Participates in the 1st Egyptian Universities Olympics

July 26-31,2008

Under the auspices of President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, the 1st Egyptian Universities Olympics organized by Alexandria University is kicked off from July 26 to July 31, 2008.


Fayoum University is participating in this Olympics with a delegation of 103 students (men and women) in the following sports :

* Volleyball (men and women) .

* Beach volleyball (men and women) .
* Basketball (men) .
* Five-a-side football .
* Athletics (men and women) .
* Table tennis (men and women) .

In the presence of a number of presidents and vice-presidents of some Egyptian universities, both Dr. Hani Helal, Minister of Higher Education and Gen. Adel Labib, Governor of Alexandria inaugurated the Olympics on Saturday, July 26, 2008 which coincides with the National Day of Alexandria
   

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Magdy El Gohary, President of Fayoum University, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yusuf Al Qadi, Vice President for Education and Students, Prof. Dr. Samir Seif Al Yazzal, Dean of Faculty of Agriculture and General Coordinator of Student Activities and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mohamed Al Rabieey, Head of Sports Committee attended the inauguration ceremony.
   

On the other hand, the attendants lauded the effective and productive participation of Fayoum University in the first Olympics all over the Egyptian Universities. Also, the inaugural ceremony was so fantastic as it embraced some exciting and interesting shows. In his speech on the occasion, Dr. Hani Helal praised the role played by the youth in development and progress. After that, Marwan Ragab, the Egyptian handball player, lit the first Olympic Flame of the Egyptian Universities. Immediately after the ceremony, President of Fayoum University paid a visit to the delegation of Fayoum University where he was welcomed warmly.
