President of Fayoum University Prof. Dr. Ahmed El Gohary graced the closing ceremony of the 3rd Short Plays Festival which was held on the University Theatre within 15 March to 17 March, 2009.

The closing ceremony by a number of dignitaries including Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al Qadi, vice-president for Education and Students, Prof. Dr. Abdel Hamid Abdel Tawab, vice-president for Community Service and Environmental Development as well as a number of the faculty staff and university students.

Students participating in the festival presented a number of short plays, which won the admiration of the audience. The faculties which participated in the event included (Social Work - Tourism and Hotels - Science – Dar Al Uluom - Agriculture - Arts - Kindergarten – Medicine).

At the level of results, the Jury chose the play (You're Free, sic. Inta hor) presented by the Faculty of Science to rank first. It also chose the play (A Summer Night's Dream, sic. Helim Leila Seif) presented by the Faculty of Social Work to be in the second place while as Faculty of Arts ranked third for its play " A Summer Night's Dream". In the area of Excellence in Women's Performance, results came as follows: Salma Ashraf, Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, obtained the first place, Mai Mahmoud Mohamed, Faculty of kindergarten, came second. On the other hand, the first place in Excellence in Men's Performance went to Hossam Abu Al Saud, Faculty of Social Work, while Mahmoud Mezar, Faculty of Agriculture, got the second place. And for Excellence in Directing, Ruby Ahmed, Faculty of Science came first.

At the end of the ceremony Prof. Dr. Ahmed El Gohary and his vice-presidents handed over prizes to the winners.
