Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ahmed El Gohary, president of Fayoum University and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al Qadi, Vice President for Education and Students, Faculty of Engineering organized the Sports Day Festival on Thursday 9/4/2009.

Inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Hani Al Ghazaly, dean of Faculty of Engineering, the opening ceremony was attended by a number of high profile figures including Prof. Dr. Huda Tawfik, dean of Faculty of Social Work, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Eisa, vice-dean of Faculty of Engineering for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Khalid Hamza, vice-dean of Faculty of Engineering for Education and Students, Prof. Dr. Zeinab Al Bahi, vice-dean of Faculty of Education and Students, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel Karim, head of Industrial Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Soliman Abu Al Soud, head of Electrical Engineering Department, a number of the faculty staff as well as a crowd of university students.

The festival commenced with playing the national anthem of the Arab Republic of Egypt, followed by a recitation of some verses of the Holy Quran. Then the festival started its events as follows:
-Karate show by Student/ Ahmed Said
-A duet by both students Hitham Ismail and Mohamed Hesham.
-A six-a-side football match between Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Engineering.
- Competitions of short-distance running (one lap around the track)
-Competitions of long-distance running (three laps around the track)
-Chess competitions
-Jogging competition between deans, vice-deans and heads of departments.
-A six-a-side football match between Faculty of Social Work and Dar Al Uluom.
- Tug-of-war competitions.
-Arm Wrestling competitions.
- Telematch competition.
-Football match –the final

At the end of the festival, both Prof. Dr. Hani Al Ghazaly and Prof. Dr. Huda Tawfik distributed the prizes among the first-place winners.
