The Eighteenth Scientific Conference which was held in Faculty of Social Work called for setting up networks of civil communities and civil society organizations to be responsible for facing and solving the following problems: poverty, unemployement and illiteracy. Besides, they will be responsible for raising the effectiveness and efficency of educational services and health care as well as providing the integrated care for family and child and giving the Egyptian woman the opportunity of having an active and positive participation in sustainable societal development activities and efforts.
The conference recommended setting up and providing an efficient information system can be used in setting social care policies and guaranteeing that social services will reach those who deserve of family members. It recommended setting up centres for future studies which can be employed in setting strateges matching with the reality and coditions of the Egyptian society and aiming at achieving the third millennium goals.
Moreover, the conference recommended supporting and enhancing the institutional potential of civil society organizations which make them able to deal with the problems of the rural, urban and desert communities effectivelly, and achieve sustainable societal development.Also, it called for activating the results and recommendations found out by studies, researches and theses in the field of social work to improve the role of social work career in achieving the third millennium goals. Besides, a comittee should be appointed to observe activating the recommendations of the conference in coordination with the concerned bodies to achieve the millennium goals.
Dr. Mahmoud Mohammed Mahmoud, Dean of Faculty of Social Work and President of the conference said that the conference which is held in Faculty of Social Work under the auspices of Gen.Magdi Qubisy, Fayoum Governor, and Dr. Galal Mustafa Said, President of Fayoum University, discussed over three days 21 reasearch and 16 worksheets.These researches and worksheets focused on the correlation of social work career with the third millenium goals and the career's role in achieving these goals.It also discussed the topics related to overcoming illiteracy , solving children's problems and guaranteeing their rights , activating the woman's role in voluntary work and civil society organizations .The conference tackled the local society development ,environment service ,health problems and fighting pollution .
The President of the coference added that Faculty of Social Work hosted a number of specialists from different Egyptian and Arab universities to participate in the conference .The executive bodies and civil society organizations like syndicates, associations, research institutions and centres of development services in Egypt and the Arab World participated in the conference, too.
