University Council – February 2013

In its monthly meeting No. 81 dated February 27th , 2013, the Fayoum University Council, chaired by President of Fayoum University Professor Abdel Hamid Abdel Tawab Sabry, took the following actions:
-The Council approved the 2013 January Meeting Minute.
-The University Council approved awarding the following students master's degrees:
*Mohamed Hosny Ahmed Kasem, Faculty of Social Work;
*Osama Korny El-Sherif, Faculty of Engineering;
*Abeer Mohamed Helmy Abdel Zaher, Faculty of Agriculture;
*Salwa Mohamed Abdel Gawad Ahmed, Faculty of Agriculture;
*Gomaa Said Mohamed Abdel Hamid, Faculty of Education.


-The Council approved awarding the following students the PhD Degrees:
-Shimaa Hanafy Mohamed El Sayed, Faculty of Social Work;
-Mona Galal Abuel-Saud, Faculty of Social Work;
-Hasan Radi Hassan Bahnasawy, Faculty of Agriculture; and
-Hamada Ragab Hassan Behairy, Faculty of Agriculture.


*The Council approved:
-Awarding the Graduate Diploma Degree in Arts (September Session 2012) to 5 students.
-Awarding the Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (January Session 2012) upon the Faculty Council's approval dated May 15th, 2012.
-Awarding the Bachelor's Degree in Arabic Language and Islamic Sciences (January Session 2012/2013) upon the Faculty Council's approval dated February 12, 2013.
-Awarding the Bachelor's Degree in Specific Education (January Session 2013) upon the Faculty Council's approval dated February 20th, 2013.


Appointments and Promotions:
-The Council approved promoting Dr. Mohammad Mostafa Safwat Al-Asaly, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, to the position of Professor.
- The Council approved promoting Dr. Osama Yousef Mohamed Shalaby, Department of Botany, Faculty of Agriculture, to the position of Professor.
- The Council approved appointing Dr. Khaled Abdel Hamid Selim Abdel Ghany, Department of Food Science & Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, as an Assistant Professor.
- The Council approved appointing Dr. Heba Ramadan Abdel Hamid, Department of Art Education, Faculty of Specific Education, as an Assistant Professor.
- The Council approved app  ointing Dr. Atef Mohammad Mohammad Sarhan, Department of Botany, Faculty of Agriculture, as a Lecturer.
- The Council approved appointing Dr. Hosam Eldin Mahmoud Mostafa , Dairy Science Department , Faculty of Agriculture, as a Lecturer.
- The Council approved appointing Dr. Omaima Sobhy Khalil, Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Faculty of Arts, as a Lecturer.
- The Council approved appointing Dr. Hoda Mohamed Abdel Rahman, Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, as a Lecturer.
- The Council approved appointing Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Raoef, Department of Tourism Studies, Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, as a Lecturer.
- The Council approved appointing Dr. Sheirf Maher Abuel-Maaty, Department of General Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, as a Lecturer.
-The Council approved granting Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Ali Hassan, Department of Botany, Faculty of Agriculture, the academic title of Assistant Professor of plant pathology.


Postgraduate Studies and Research
-The Council approved altering the TOEFL score needed to apply for master's and PhD degrees at the Faculty of Archaeology to be 450 at least.
-The Council also approved that open education students could be enrolled in the graduate diplomas of all faculties on the condition they meet the requirements.
- The Council also approved that open education students could join the graduate program offered by Institute for Nile States Strategic Studies and Researches (INSSR).
-The Council approved creating an information center to be affiliated to the University President in addition to formulating a committee to prepare its financial, technical and administrative bylaw. The new committee will be composed of:
- Vice-President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Chairman
-Vice-President for Community Service and Environment Development, Member
-Vice-President for Education and Students' Affairs, Member
-Mr. University Secretary-general, member
The committee has the authority to invite all directors of the concerned projects when needed.

Community Service and Environment Development
-The Council approved altering the financial and administrative regulations of the centers of excellence as to the membership of the faculty director in the boards of all units. The faculty director should be a member of only one board.
-The Council approved creating a unit for quality assurance of industrial and engineering facilities at the Faculty of Engineering.


Faculty Members' Affairs
-The Council decided that faculty members of the Sociology Department of the Faculty of Arts should re-join the Department of Social Sciences of the Faculty of Social Work. The faculty members mentioned in the decision are:
-Prof. Shehata Elsayed Siam, a professor;
-Dr. Abdel Hamid Younis, an assistant professor;
-Dr. Elsayed Abdel Fattah Afify; an emeritus professor;
-Dr. Amany Hamed Ibrahim, an assistant professor;
-Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Mabrouk, a lecturer.
-The Council also approved transferring Dr. Zaizy Elsayed Ibrahim , a lecturer at the Department of Psychology, Minia University's Faculty of Arts, to the same post in Fayoum University.

Donations and Contributions:
-The Fayoum University accepted the donation made Prof. Hesham Mahmoud Aref, professor of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, who donated a collection of recent scientific references in architecture.
- The Fayoum University accepted the donation made Prof. Mohamed Abdel Rahman Al Sharnouby, acting dean of the Institute for Nile States Strategic Studies and Researches (INSSR), who donated:
-124 books in Arabic and English which are worth LE 5000 for the Central Library;
-340 books in Arabic and English which are worth LE 13000 for the INSSR;
-3 aerial maps of Egypt, Africa and the Nile Basin which are worth LE 2500 for the INSSR;
-3 geological atlases of Egypt which are worth LE 1500 for the INSSR; and
-2 wheelchairs which are worth LE 1200 for the University Hospital.
