University Council – June 2011

The Fayoum University Council, chaired by Professor Ahmed El Gohary, took the following actions at their meeting No. 62 dated 29/6/2011:

-The Council approved transferring Dr. Nana Al-Dawy Ahmed from the Faculty of Early Childhood Education to the same post at the Faculty of Education of Helwan University.

-The Council also approved transferring Dr. Ahmed Ali Gomaa, Lecturer, Endemic Diseases Unit, Faculty of Medicine, Al-Azhar University, Damietta Campus, to the same post at Fayoum University's Faculty of Medicine.

-The Council approved transferring Dr. Amany Mahmoud Ali Al-Bayas, Lecturer at the Department of Art Education, Faculty of Specific Education, Fayoum University, to the same post at the Department of Art Education, Faculty of Specific Education, Mansoura University, Damietta Campus.

- The Council approved transferring Dr. Naser Abu Zaid, Lecturer at the Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Arts, Fayoum University, to the same post at the Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Arts, Sohag University.

- The Council approved transferring Dr. Zainab Hassan Abuel-Khair, Lecturer at the Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Arts, Sohag University, to the same post at the Department of Library and Information Science, Faculty of Arts, Fayoum University.

-The Council approved reappointing Professor Emeritus Mohammad Ibrahim Al-Refaay as part-time professor at the Department of Botany for four years.

- The Council approved withdrawing the decision No. 40 dated January 12, 2011 regarding termination of the service of Assistant Lecturer Reham Ali Mustafa, Department of Archeology, and extending her leave of absence for the fifth year until 26/9/2011. The Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs in Washington shall be notified.

-The Council approved deferring giving the 50% for committees pertaining to sectors of education, graduate studies, and community service and environment development until passing new regulations ensuring that all university sectors will benefit alike.

-The Council also endorsed the strategic plan, organizational structure, job duties and faculty self study within the framework of the Continuous Improvement and Qualifying for Accreditation Project (CIQAP). These items shall be publically discussed in a seminar.

- The Council approved giving a bonus per the exam sessions during the days of invigilation for each year's officer, with giving the Director of Students' Affairs a complete bonus for invigilation. The same is for physicians and nursing staff.

-The Council also decided to give Atef Eid Abdul-Moatey, a graduate of Dar Al Uloom, Class 1995/1996 three marks in the Islamic History Course for the second year of the academic year 1993/1994, along with recounting his total mark and correcting his total mark in the third year of the academic year 1994/1995 to be 148 marks instead of 147 marks. Accordingly, the cumulative total shall be considered and the University President shall be delegated to endorse the result.

-The Council also endorsed the internal regulations of the Graduate Studies Program of the Faculty of Specific Education. The new program adopts the credit hour system. In this regard, the Supreme Council for Universities (SCU) shall be notified of the regulations along with a list of the physical and human potential available.

-The Council decided to alter the name of the Fayoum University's Center for Rehabilitation of the Blind (CRB) to be the Fayoum University's Center for Rehabilitation of the Blind and People with Special Needs.

*Moreover, the Fayoum University Council approved altering the rules governing the University's contribution to publishing research papers in international periodicals and journals as follows:

-The University shall bear approximately 75% of the costs of publishing research papers with around 2000 Egyptian pounds per annum. The author can benefit from this contribution to publish more than one research paper.

-All faculty shall benefit from this contribution.

-The researcher must mention Fayoum University in the Author's Affiliation Section.

-Publishing must be in a peer-reviewed journal having an impact factor.

-The author must be the Corresponding Author.

-The author shall not be engaged in a research project allowing funding the expenses of publication.

-The author must be at the University, and not on a secondment or a leave of absence.

-The person who is on a scientific mission can benefit from this contribution if there is no other body will afford the costs of publishing.

*The Council also approved promoting Dr. Salem Abdul-Fattah Mahfouz, Department of Agricultural Microbiology, Faculty of Agriculture, to the rank of Professor.

*The Council approved promoting Dr. Fatma Abdullah Ismael, Department of Methods of Social Work, Faculty of Social Work, to the rank of Assistant Professor.

*The Council approved promoting Fatma Anwar Mohammad El Sayed, Department of Methods of Social Work, Faculty of Social Work, to the rank of Assistant Professor.

*The Council approved promoting Dr. Mervat Abdul-Hady Abdul-Latif, Department of Tourist Guidance, Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, to the rank of Assistant Professor.

*The Council approved promoting Dr. Rabab Adel Hasan Saleh, Department of Methods of Tourist Guidance, Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, to the rank of Assistant Professor.

*The Council approved promoting Dr. Zainab Ali Ibrahim Abdul-al, Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, to the rank of Assistant Professor.

*Furthermore, the Council approved promoting the following assistant lecturers to the rank of Lecturer:

-Dr. Sally Sherif Mohammad Fadel, Department of Tourism Studies, Faculty of Tourism and Hotels;

-Dr. Ahed Rageh Ismael, Department of Hotel Studies, Faculty of Tourism and Hotels.

-Dr. Wael Morad Mohammad Somida, Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture;

-Dr. Ahmed El Sayed Ahmed Khalaf, Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture;

-Dr. Ragab Salama Taha Gadel-Rab, Department of Botany, Faculty of Agriculture;

-Dr. Ghaidaa Abdullah Ahmed Hassaneen, Department of Psychological Sciences, Faculty of Early Childhood Education;

-Dr. Ahlam Ali Abdul-Sattar, Department of Psychological Sciences, Faculty of Early Childhood Education;

-Dr. Afaf Mamdouh Mohammad Abdul-Razek, Department of Basic Sciences, Faculty of Early Childhood Education;

*The Fayoum University Council has approved granting the following researchers their doctoral degrees

-An anonymous philanthropist who made an EGP 70000 contribution for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Fayoum University Hospital.

-An anonymous philanthropist who contributed a water cooler dispenser worth 1950 Egyptian Pounds.

-Dr. Ashraf Wegdan, Dean of Faculty of Nursing, who contributed a paper shredder.

-Professor Ghada Al-Gendy, Professor of Nursing in the British University in Egypt (BUE), who contributed a CONO Printer as well as a Top Star Kettle.

-Modern Building Company which contributed a 2011 Nissan Sunny car worth 89550 Egyptian Pounds for Fayoum University.

-Al Tholathea Company which contributed a 2009 Mitsubishi Car worth 120500 Egyptian Pounds for Fayoum University.
