The Public Services Center of the Faculty of Arts, in conjunction with the General Authority of Cultural Palaces represented by Fayoum Cultural Palace, is holding its first training course on "Development of Librarians' Skills" during 15-2/2-3/2009. The course is organized under the auspices of Professor Ahmed El Gohary, President of Fayoum University, Professor Mohammad El-Khaleely, Vice-President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Professor Ibrahim Sakr, Dean of Faculty of Arts.

The opening ceremony was attended by Head of the Central Administration of Greater Cairo Ahmed Zeham, Head of the Central Administration for Training and Leader Development Mamdouh Kamal, and Director-General of Fayoum Cultural Palace Montaser Thabet.
The event commenced with a speech delivered by Dean Sakr who praised the faculty's efforts in holding a variety of courses in the field of languages and libraries.

Speaking in the ceremony, Mamdouh Kamal called for creating a sense of congruence between theories and application in the field of library sciences so as to move from the traditional mode into a nontraditional mode. "The primary goal of this course is to improve librarians' skills through up-to-date training styles," he added.

On his part, Ahmed Zeham stressed the role being played by the libraries in changing cultural roles.
