A Workshop on "Proposal Writing for FP7 International Funding"

    Saad Nassar Hall hosted Sunday 21/12/2008 a symposium entitled "Framework Programme7 Information Day".

    The symposium witnessed a number of lectures given by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Shendi, professor at Land and Water Department, Faculty of Agriculture and in charge of the project at the university and Prof. Dr. Magy Louis Director of RDI network and Ms.Wesam Gouda – Information Center of Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. Some members of the faculty staff and researchers interested in knowing how to apply for these projects and funding opportunities were present.

    The workshop started with a lecture by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Shendi in which he shed light on how to access the site of the research projects and how to keep abreast with the latest scholarships offered on the site by logging in the following link;

    He also reviewed the four programs enclosed in the projects which are (Cooperation – Ideas – People – Capacities).

    Addressing the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Programme, Prof. Dr. Magy Louis said that "RDI is funded by the European Commission with a grant of €11 million over a period of three years while FP7's budget is about € 54 billion from 2007 to 2013.

    Ms. Wesam closed the seminar with casting light on "People programme" which concerns with travel and working in Europe. In a nutshell, the FP7 focuses on:

• Information and Communication Technology
• Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Material and New Production
• Technologies
• Energy
• Environment ( including Climate Change )
• Transport
• Socio-economic Sciences and the Humanities

    A workshop presented by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Shendi followed on Tuesday 32/12/2008 at Education Reform Center behind Faculty of Engineering. The workshop aimed to enhance the skills and increase awareness of young Egyptian researchers in proposal writing.

    Dr. Shendi clarified to other faculty members and young researchers "Proposal Writing for FP7 International Funding".

During the workshop, he affirmed that such projects should be collective and involving more than three countries of the European Union and Third World countries so as to be accepted.
