AWO Research Grants Announcement, 2010
The Arab Women Organization (AWO) announces the opening for five
research grants to graduate students who are preparing theses (Masters – Ph.D.)
in topics related to Arab women in the field of social sciences.
Conditions for Applying for Grants: |
The applicant should be a national of one of the member States of
the Arab Women Organization: (Jordan, Emirates, Bahrain, Tunis, Algeria, Sudan,
Syria, Oman, Palestine, Lebanon, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, and Yemen).
The thesis proposal submitted to obtain the grant must have been
approved by the scientific department at the University maximum one year prior
to the issuance date of this announcement.
The topic of the thesis must contribute to achieving the goals of
the Organization in promoting the capabilities of Arab women and improving their
conditions, as well as raising awareness about their issues.
-Applications are open for females and males.
The Value of Grants
The value of each grant is $5,000, noting that one of the five
grants is allocated to the best action plan for a field research on the
situation of Arab women during wars, occupation and armed conflicts.
Procedures for Applying for Grants:
1. Nomination for grants comes through the university in which
the applicant is registered in one of its postgraduate programs both inside and
outside the Arab world.
2. The nomination envelope must be mailed to
info@arabwomenorg.net
indicating
"Research Grants in social sciences 2010" and should include:
· An official letter from the President of the University or
the Dean where the applicant is registered, nominating him/her to receive one of
the grants.
· A detailed Biography of the applicant.
· A schedule of the steps for implementing the research project
indicating the date of registration in the postgraduate program and the date of
approval of the thesis project.
· A copy of the applicant's passport.
· An outline of the
thesis topic in Arabic consisting of approximately 20 pages in accordance with
the methodology requirements in the following site:

· Grant files that do not meet the conditions required will not
be considered.
3. The deadline for receiving applications with all attachments
is May 30, 2010. Applications should be sent to the following address: 25 Ramsis
Street, Korba, Heliopolis, Cairo, the Arab Republic of Egypt.
4. The complete applications will be evaluated by a specialized
Committee which will announce its decisions on the first of October 2009. The
Universities/Institutions to which the selected candidates belong will be
notified by an official letter issued by the Organization upon receipt of the
decisions of the evaluation committee.
