The Cultural Affairs and Missions Sector, Ministry of Higher Educations, invites applications for the CV Raman International Fellowship for African Researchers 2010.  This prestigious fellowship is aimed at further strengthening the scientific and technological cooperation between Indian and African nations as it provides opportunity for African researchers to conduct research, under the guidance of their host in India, in Indian laboratories/institutes in chosen frontline areas of science and technology. It is worth mentioning that the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce &Industry (FICCI) is the Coordinating Partner for the fellowship. 

1-Fields of Research / Training

All fields of natural/engineering sciences including mathematics and statistics are included under this programme. Humanities and behavioral sciences are not covered in this programme.

2-Types of Fellowships Offered

(a)  Post Doctoral Fellowship: Duration 6 months. Maximum 2 fellowships of 6 months duration; each or one fellowship thereof subject to total 12 months.

(b) Visiting Fellowship: Duration 3 months. Maximum 3 fellowships

(c) Senior Fellowship: Duration 1 month. Maximum 3 fellowships

3- Eligibility Criteria

a) The applicants should be actively engaged in research at a university or research institution

b) Minimum Academic Qualifications

(1) Post Doctoral Fellowship: Ph.D

(2) Visiting Fellowship: Ph.D/M.Tech or 6 to 10 years working experience

(3) Senior Fellowship: Senior Experts/ Scientists / Professors

c) The applicants has to work out a research/ training plan with his/her Indian host scientist

d) Candidates who have earlier availed C V Raman International Fellowship will not be eligible for this fellowship again.

4-Terms of Award

( a) Round-trip air ticket in economy excursion class

( b) Sustenance Allowance:

1- Post Doctoral Fellowship: Rs. 40, 000 per month including accommodation

2- Visiting Fellowship: Rs. 50, 000/ - per month including accommodation

3- Senior Fellowship: Rs. 50, 000/ per month + accommodation (accommodation in host institute's guest house with reasonable facilities)

5-Documents to Be Submitted

(b) A letter of acceptance/ invitation from candidate's prospective host researcher in India, stating that he/she accepts the candidate at his/her institution during period of the fellowship tenure.

(c) A copy of candidate's educational qualification from Bachelor's degree onwards.
