The Premio Internazionale di Etnostoria Giuseppe Pitrè -Salvatore Salomone Marino is open to all Italian and foreign scholars, with or without academic qualifications, who have made and published their research on the demoethnoanthropological and ethno-historical field or a related subject pertaining to the Human Sciences.

The Prize consists of the following sections:

Sigillo d’Oro dell’Università degli Studi di Palermo
Awarded for a lifetime achievement to an Italian or foreign scholar nominated by at least

one University or Scientific Research Institute

Premio G. Pitrè – S. Salomone Marino
€ 5.000,00
Awarded for a book or long essay on demoethnoanthropological issues

Premio Presidente del Centro Internazionale di Etnostoria
€ 3.000,00
Awarded for an ethnostoric study (essay or audiovisual/photographic document)

Premio Giuria Internazionale
€ 3.000,00

Awarded for a book or long essay or audiovisual/photographic document on cultural identity issues

Premio di Etnomedicina (Silverplaque)
Awarded for a book or long essay on issues concerning the history of medicine, medical and health traditions, Community Health, as well as epidemiological researches, on social, behavioral and eating habits, on various aspects of ethnical medicine, traditional Medicine and Pharmaceutics, alternative Medicine and Pharmaceutics

Premio G. Cocchiara (Silverplaque)
Awarded for a book or long essay on ethnostoric issues in the regional context

- The Jury may also award “Special Nominations”. The Members of the Jury will be announced by June 30 th 2010.
- Works submitted must have been published after January 1st , 2006.
- Applicants competing for the Premio Internazionale di Etnostoria “G. Pitrè – S. Salomone Marino” must send five copies of their works (books, essays, audiovisual material, etc.), together with:
* personal CV and picture;
* personal data, with postal address, telephone numbers, e-mail address and telefax number (if any), accompanied by a written authorization for the use of their personal data for the purposes of this Prize to the following address:

The scholar awarded with the “Sigillo d’Oro dell’Università degli Studi di Palermo”
will be invited to leave a copy of his/her works to the “E. Vittorietti” library of C.I.E. (Complesso Steri, Piazza Marina n. 57, PALERMO) and will also be invited to deliver a Lecture to the students of the University of Palermo.
