    Engineering students' graduation projects acclaimed
  21-Jul-2011

Several fourth-year students at Fayoum University's Faculty of Engineering have been acclaimed for their out-of the-box graduation projects. They have designed projects in all fields of engineering, including civil engineering and electrical engineering. In civil engineering, for instance, students provided different projects such as a complete surveying project outlining the area of Fayoum Campus. Another project was about port engineering, taking into account all major aspects of the design and maintenance of port facilities. As for projects relevant to electrical engineering, students proved their mettle. Taking advantage of the latest technologies, students created some novel projects, such as making a Wi-Fi-enabled, remotely controlled robot, and PC Remote File Transfer Utility that uses Static IP and FPRS Modem. The solar energy-powered message signs on the highways was one of the projects submitted. The idea behind this project is to alert drivers about imminent emergency and to make sure that roads are safe for all road users. Some students also managed to invent a phone for the blind with Braille keyboard. This user-friendly invention can help visually challenged people make calls, and listen to their sent/received SMS. One of the highly prestigious projects submitted was that one following the steps of making car seats using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). This project, which came second nationwide in the Siemens Competition, has been selected to be applied in the near future.
