Prof. Assem El-Essawy stated that the medical convoy successfully provided medical check-ups and treatments for 912 cases from the village of Metertares and neighboring villages, including the villages of Al-Ghoul, Ashour, Abdullah Pasha, Al-Genedi, Abu Al-Nour, and Al-Akhasas. The convoy conducted 147 orthopedic examinations, 125 dental cases, 184 internal medicine cases, 165 pediatric cases, and 291 dermatological cases.
He added that the Faculty of Nursing contributed to the convoy by holding an awareness seminar on the prevention of diabetic foot, led by Assistant Lecturer Naglaa Morsi Khatib from the Department of Surgical and Internal Medicine Nursing at the Faculty of Nursing. During the seminar, she explained that diabetic foot is one of the severe complications of diabetes, which may lead to amputation if not prevented. She emphasized the importance of daily foot checks, keeping the feet clean, and wearing supportive shoes to prevent serious complications. She also stressed the need. She also recommended not to walk barefoot, as this increases the chances of infection with bacteria and fungi in the foot, as well as trimming the nail carefully and avoiding high temperatures.
Furthermore, Prof. El-Essawy said that the Faculty of Agriculture organized a training session on dairy product manufacturing, led by Ms. Esraa Abdel-Gawad Mouawad and Mr. Mahmoud Mohamed Youssef from the Department of Dairy Science. The workshop covered how to make yogurt and Damietta cheese, with practical demonstrations. The training benefited 40 housewives, who were taught how to start a small yogurt-making business as a source of income. All participants’ questions were answered at the end of the session.
Prof. El-Eessawy also highlighted that the "Hayah Karima" Foundation held an awareness seminar on the national human development project "A New Beginning for Human Development," where Dr. Rasha Gomaa discussed the project's development pillars, including education, healthcare, sports, culture, and employment.
At the end of the convoy, the residents of the village expressed their gratitude to Fayoum University and the "Hayah Karima" Foundation for their efforts.
