Comprehensive Convoy at the Village of Manshiyat Al-Gamal

Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Ansary, Governor of Fayoum, Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, and the supervision of Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Naglaa El-Sherbiny, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Lamia Ibrahim, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and Dr. Sameh Ashmawy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Fayoum. The Community Service and Environmental Development Sector organized a comprehensive convoy in cooperation with the Hayah Karema Foundation, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Dentistry, the Health Directorate, and the Safe Women Unit at the Faculty of Medicine. The convoy took place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the health unit in the village of Manshiyat El-Gammal, Tamia Center, Fayoum Governorate. The convoy was attended by Dr. Rasha Gomaa, Health Officer at the Hayah Karema Foundation, and Dr. Heba Hussein Abdel Fattah, Director of the Safe Women Unit at the Faculty of Medicine. The convoy was also attended by Hayah Karema coordinators at Tamia Center, the Hayah Karema Foundation team in Fayoum Governorate, and Dr. Nevin Shaaban, Director of Primary Care at the Fayoum Health Directorate.
Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that the comprehensive convoy of Fayoum University stems from the university's role and the mission of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector to serve the local community, provide diverse medical services, and raise awareness of societal issues.
He added that the medical convoy included a distinguished group of doctors specializing in internal medicine, pediatrics, ear, nose, and throat (ENT), dermatology, dentistry, and orthopedics. 970 cases were examined, including 115 internal medicine cases, 253 pediatric cases, 55 ENT cases, 203 orthopedics cases, 97 dental cases, and 247 dermatology cases. The necessary treatment was provided to all cases, with the General Administration for Community Service and Development participating in providing the necessary treatment for the convoy.
He added that the Safe Women's Unit at the Faculty of Medicine participated in raising awareness during the comprehensive convoy to highlight the unit's role. Heba Hussein Rahim, Director of the Safe Women Unit at Fayoum University, spoke about the Safe Women Unit at the university hospital and its role in providing comprehensive health services for cases of violence against women. He also spoke about first-line support, including psychological first aid, medical response, urgent medical treatment, and confidential documentation.
The team also raised awareness among villagers about the various forms of violence against women, discussing the manifestations of violence against women in rural Egypt and the impact of verbal violence on childrearing. The team also addressed the phenomenon of early marriage and its harmful effects, as well as the harmful effects of female genital mutilation. The team also raised awareness about the impact of violence against women on women, families, and society. A total of 50 women and girls were educated.
He affirmed that Fayoum University will continue to organize medical, nursing, awareness, and veterinary convoys in several villages in Fayoum Governorate during 2025.
