Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Ansary, Governor of Fayoum, and Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, and under the supervision of Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, in cooperation with the Fayoum Veterinary Medicine Directorate, the Veterinary Syndicate, and the Food Inspection and Control Department of the University's General Administration of University Cities, organized a veterinary convoy in the village of Bihamo, Senuris Center, Fayoum Governorate, on Monday, July 28, 2025.

A total of 1,922 cattle and sheep were examined and treated. This convoy is part of a series of veterinary convoys organized by the university in several villages in the governorate. Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that participation in the convoy stems from the university's role and the mission of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Fayoum University. It also falls within the university's commitment to providing diverse services to the local community, including organizing free veterinary treatment convoys for Fayoum's centers and villages. This is part of strengthening the partnership between the university and the community in various fields, particularly in veterinary healthcare.

He added that the veterinary convoy witnessed a large participation of specialized veterinarians, who examined and treated 1,922 cattle and sheep free of charge, with the aim of preserving animal health and improving animal production in the region.

A total of 210 cattle were vaccinated, 217 cases of internal and external parasites were treated, and 380 cases of internal diseases, including poisoning, respiratory and digestive diseases, were also treated. 115 ultrasound scans were also performed. Meanwhile, 200 cases of reproductive diseases affecting animal production were treated, and 800 sheep were vaccinated.

Veterinary advice was also provided to breeders on the importance of prevention and ongoing health care.

Dr. Wagdy Moustafa, Director of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate in Fayoum, emphasized that the veterinary convoys organized by Fayoum University contribute significantly to supporting breeders and alleviating their burden. He pointed out that parasitic and reproductive diseases represent the most prominent challenges facing breeders in the governorate.

He added that providing sustainable veterinary care to these animals helps improve their productivity and ensure their overall health.

For his part, Dr. Ali Saad, Head of the Veterinarians Syndicate in Fayoum, stated that the veterinary convoys come at the perfect time, as the livestock sector in the governorate suffers from numerous challenges, most notably a lack of health awareness among breeders, which exposes livestock to health risks that ultimately impact the local economy.

At the end of the convoy, Mr. Abdel Nasser Bakry Mohamed, Director General of the General Administration for Community Service and Environmental Development, expressed his gratitude and thanks to Professor Yasser Hatata, President of the University, and Professor Assem El-Essawy, Vice President of the University, for their continued support of such convoys, which help the Fayoum community improve and preserve livestock. The residents of Matartars village also extended their sincere thanks to Fayoum University for organizing this valuable veterinary convoy, emphasizing the importance of continuing these initiatives to improve rural life and support veterinary health in villages.
