Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Ansary, Governor of Fayoum, and Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, and under the supervision of Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, in cooperation with the Fayoum Veterinary Medicine Directorate, the Veterinary Syndicate, and the Food Inspection and Control Department of the University's General Administration of University Cities, organized a veterinary convoy in the village of Senoufer, Fayoum Center, Fayoum Governorate, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

Prof.
Assem El-Essawy indicated that participation in the convoy stems from the university's role and the mission of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at Fayoum University, and is part of the university's commitment to providing diverse services to the local community, including organizing free veterinary treatment convoys for Fayoum centers and villages. This is part of strengthening the partnership between the university and the community in various fields, particularly in the field of veterinary healthcare. He added that the veterinary convoy witnessed a large participation of specialized veterinarians, examining and treating 1,327 cattle and sheep free of charge, with the aim of preserving animal health and improving animal production in the region. 150 cases were sprayed, 280 were treated for internal and external parasites, 367 internal diseases, including poisoning, respiratory and digestive diseases, and 21 surgical cases. 92 cases related to reproductive diseases affecting animal production were treated, and 417 sheep were vaccinated, as the village boasts a large sheep population. Veterinary advice was also provided to breeders on the importance of prevention and ongoing health care. Dr. Wagdy Moustafa, Director of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate in Fayoum, emphasized that the veterinary convoys organized by Fayoum University contribute significantly to supporting breeders and alleviating their burden. He pointed out that parasitic and reproductive diseases represent the most prominent challenges facing breeders in the governorate, and that providing sustainable veterinary care for these animals helps improve their productivity and ensure their overall health.

For his part, Dr. Ali Saad, Head of the Veterinary Doctors Syndicate in Fayoum, stated that the veterinary convoys come at the perfect time, as the livestock sector in the governorate suffers from numerous challenges, most notably a lack of health awareness among breeders, which exposes livestock to health risks that ultimately impact the local economy.
|
Prof. Abdel Nasser Bakry Mohamed, Director General of the General Administration for Community Service and Environmental Development, continued, stating that the continued support of these convoys helps the Fayoum Governorate community advance and preserve livestock, and that organizing veterinary convoys contributes to improving rural life and supporting veterinary health in villages.
