Inauguration of the Student Leadership Center

Under the patronage of Prof. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, Prof. Sherif El-Attar, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, witnessed the opening and inauguration of the Student Leadership Center at the university, organized by the General Administration of Youth Welfare. The event was attended by Prof. Nasser Owais, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Social Work, Prof. Ahmed Hosny, Former Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Wael Tobar, Coordinator of Student Activities at the University, Prof. Mohamed Kamal, Professor of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Israa Mohamed Hashem, Lecturer at the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Ms. Salwa Fouad, Director General of Youth Welfare, and a number of faculty members, administrators, and students. The event was held on Monday, September 1, 2025, at the Faculty of Social Work.
Prof. Sherif El-Attar stated that the Faculty of Social Work is one of the leading faculties at Fayoum University, contributing to supporting and encouraging student activities. He expressed his gratitude for the opening of the Student Leadership Center in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
He pointed out the importance of the center in building a successful leader, addressing several characteristics and requirements of a leader that begin at birth and infancy. He also noted that a successful leader must have an effective personality characterized by planning and organization, in addition to the important role the center will play in developing personal capabilities and enhancing them for the better. He directed young people to the importance of refining and developing their personal skills, especially since approximately 60% of the Egyptian population are young people who must be capable of leading the nation.
Prof. Ahmed Hosny emphasized the principles of belonging and citizenship, and that the Student Leadership Center aims to serve and build future leaders. It is a miniature center of the National Training Academy and contributes to building the character of Fayoum University students, demonstrating their leadership and responsibility. He called on students to feel proud of their belonging to their university and to equip themselves with the skills necessary for the job market, which contributes to the nation's development.
Prof. Wael Tobar also emphasized that the inauguration of the Student Leadership Center is one of the important national projects launched by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to serve as a national platform aimed at preparing a generation of young leaders capable of assuming responsibility and possessing the capacity for creativity and innovation. He discussed the project, which includes several committees, including the Public Relations and Marketing Committee, Women's Issues, and People of Determination, among others.
Prof. Mohamed Kamal discussed the concept of health according to the World Health Organization's definition of health as a person's enjoyment of physical, psychological, and mental well-being. He also addressed the psychological disorders that young people suffer from in the information age, ways to eliminate them, their internal and external causes, and their impact on daily life. He also discussed prevention and treatment methods, as well as the role of the family and the state in this regard. Dr. Israa Mohamed Hashem also discussed the use of artificial intelligence, defining intelligence in general as the ability to plan, know, and solve problems. Artificial intelligence, on the other hand, is human-made, and involves building a machine, model, or simulation of human intelligence capable of thinking and planning. Its uses include health, education, management, agriculture, industry, development, and other areas. The discussion also addressed its speed and benefits in obtaining various information, as well as its risks, such as replacing some non-innovative jobs and the complete lack of accuracy of information.
