Under the auspices of Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, Prof. Arafa Sabry Hassan, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, received Prof. Osama Galal Saqr, Director of the Laboratory Qualification Project for International Accreditation at the Projects Department of the Ministry of Higher Education. The meeting was held to hand over the twelfth cycle of the Laboratory Qualification Project for International Accreditation (LIAP) for the Thin Membrane Water Purification and Desalination Laboratory at the Faculty of Science (Project Code: LP12-049-FAY). The handover ceremony was attended by Prof. Samia Gouda, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Prof. Bothaina Youssef Fouad, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Director of the Project Management Unit; Prof. Tamer Magdy, Director of the Center for Quality Assurance and Strategic Planning; Dr. Shaaban Saad El-Nisr, Deputy Director of the Project Management Unit at the University; Dr. Mohamed Ali Agha, Executive Director of the project; and a number of faculty members.

Prof. Arafa Sabry indicated that this step comes within the framework of the state's efforts to link scientific research with industry and find practical solutions to societal problems.

He emphasized that the project aims to develop the thin-film laboratory and qualify it for international accreditation through three main axes: supporting and qualifying the laboratory to comply with the ISO 17025 standard and measuring the mechanical properties of thin films according to the ASTM D882-18 standard; preparing and qualifying laboratory staff, administratively and technically, for basic measurements; and completing accreditation requirements through EGAC.

He also explained that the project's budget amounts to 2 million and 350 thousand Egyptian pounds, distributed as follows: 940 thousand pounds in support from the university, and 1 million and 410 thousand pounds from the Project Management Unit of the Ministry of Higher Education allocated for the equipment, supplies, and tools necessary to operate the lab.
