Celebration of Distributing Laptops for People with Visual Impairments and the Program of Incubators for Outstanding Students

Under the auspices of Prof. Nevin El Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansary, Governor of Fayoum, and Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, witnessed the ceremony of distributing laptops to faculty members and employees with visual impairments, and honoring outstanding students from undergraduate, bachelor’s and postgraduate students, which was organized by the Social Solidarity Unit at Fayoum University in the presence of Prof. Mohamed Farouk Ali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Arafa Sabry, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Mohamed Emad, Deputy Governor Fayoum and Prof. Salah Hashem, Advisor to the Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Mohamed El-Tony, Assistant Governor of Fayoum, a number of deans of faculties, faculty members, representatives of bodies and civil associations, students and researchers present today, Wednesday, May 17, 2023 in the Grand Celebration Hall.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansary stressed the importance of the role of civil society organizations in supporting the development process and their active contribution to community participation. He explained his keenness to honor visually impaired students and researchers and provide them with an appropriate environment for educational attainment and rehabilitation for the labor market, praising the role of Fayoum University in this regard.
For his part, Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatta thanked all the parties participating in the celebration, praising the role of the Social Solidarity Unit at Fayoum University, which provides many services and events to university students.
He confirmed that Fayoum University pays great attention to people with disabilities as well as outstanding students in the bachelor's and postgraduate levels in various faculties, indicating that the university is interested in applied research and experimental studies and provides all support to researchers and professors.
Prof. Arafa Sabry said that the selection of outstanding students was carried out by holding committees within the faculties to nominate students applying for the scholarship, then a higher committee was held for the final selection, and the result resulted in the selection of a number of researchers from the Faculties of Arts, Antiquities, Social Service, Tourism and Hotels, stressing that Fayoum University is launching for the first time within Egyptian universities incubators for outstanding students from the faculties of humanities.
While Prof. Salah Hashem said that the Social Solidarity Unit at Fayoum University comes within 31 units within the Egyptian universities and provides many services and activities within the university and provides support to students and works to build their minds in a way that benefits the Egyptian society.
He pointed out that the unit aims to achieve equal educational opportunities for all students, especially students with disabilities, by providing them with laptops equipped with talking programs for reading books and courses.
He emphasized that the unit launched the productive student initiative, and the productive projects for students within the university will be adopted and supported. The productive students’ forum will also be hosted at the level of Egyptian universities at Fayoum University.
During the celebration, 19 laptops were handed over to faculty members and employees with visual impairments. Outstanding students in the bachelor's levels were honored in the faculties of Science, Agriculture, Medicine, Education, Arts, Social Work, and Engineering. The result of the outstanding scholarship for postgraduate students was also announced, and students from the Faculties of Social Work and Arts Tourism & Hotels and Antiquities won it, and representatives of the contributing parties were honored in recognition of their efforts.
