Fayoum University Hosts the 21st Cultural Symposium for the Popular and Military Defense Forces

At Fayoum University, Major General Osama Abdel Hamid, Commander of the Popular and Military Defense Forces, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansary, Governor of Fayoum, and Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, attended the "21st Cultural Symposium for the Popular and Military Defense Forces," organized by the Egyptian Armed Forces' Popular and Military Defense Forces Command, in cooperation with the Fayoum Governorate and the Fayoum Education Directorate. The symposium was attended by Brigadier General Sherif Mohamed Amer, Military Advisor to the Fayoum Governorate, Prof. Arafa Sabry Hassan, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Assem Al-Essawy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Ahmed Rashad, Secretary General of the University, Prof. Kamel Ghattas, Secretary General of Fayoum Governorate, Dr. Khaled Qubaisi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education in Fayoum, and a number of executive leaders from the governorate, representatives of Al-Azhar and the Church, and a number of martyrs' families and school students. The symposium was held on Monday, May 5, 2025, in the university's Grand Celebration Hall. Major General Osama Abdel Hamid praised the efforts made by the governorate, Fayoum University, and the Education Directorate to implement the strategy pursued by the political leadership and the armed forces, represented by the Popular Defense Forces and the Military, to achieve the vision of sustainable development by organizing educational seminars, field visits, and military education courses in schools and universities. This is aimed at developing a sense of loyalty, belonging, and citizenship among all segments of society, raising awareness, especially among the youth, who represent the promising future in light of regional and international changes. He added that Egypt relies heavily on its youth, given the dangerous situation on all political and economic fronts during this period. This requires vigilance and concern for the homeland, so that Egypt can enjoy security and stability. He emphasized that the military and police institutions are national institutions dedicated to protecting the Egyptian people at home and abroad, and that they spare no effort in providing assistance to all segments of the population. He emphasized that they will always remain faithful to the Egyptian Armed Forces, ensuring that they remain the highest school of patriotism and an immortal page in the annals of history. He paid tribute to the souls of the martyrs who sacrificed their pure lives for the homeland, so that Egypt remains the mother of the world.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansary emphasized that the Egyptian Armed Forces have been the nation's shield throughout history, praising the organization of educational seminars, especially in the current digital age where everything is available. We must educate Egyptian youth to teach them how to properly utilize this information boom, without being swayed by rumors and false news. This can be achieved through cooperation between the Armed Forces and the Ministries of Education and Technical Education and Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata expressed his happiness at Fayoum University hosting this important event, praising the role of the Armed Forces, represented by the Popular and Military Defense Forces, in organizing educational seminars in coordination with various ministries for school students and university youth. These seminars play a significant and important role in spreading awareness and instilling a sense of belonging and loyalty to confront various challenges at all levels. He added that Egypt has experienced difficult times throughout its history and was able to overcome them thanks to the solidarity of the Egyptian people and army. He offered his highest regards and appreciation to the Egyptian Armed Forces, which never hesitate to sacrifice everything precious and valuable to enhance the sense of national pride among all segments of the population, and to make sacrifices in times of peace and war. The educational symposium included a lecture titled "Digital Culture - Lost Identity in the Digital Age." Dr. Alaa Fawzy, an instructor at the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University and a lecturer at the Military Academy, discussed digital technologies, artificial intelligence programs, and social media, the dangers of their misuse, and their positive and negative impact on youth. The lecture also covered digital footprints, electronic surveillance, national identity standards, preserving national cultural heritage, and supporting Egyptian industry to strengthen the national economy.
The educational symposium also featured patriotic and dance performances, an artistic segment translated into sign language, and poetry recitals by students from public and private schools in Fayoum Governorate.
At the end of the symposium, Major General Osama Abdel Hamid, Commander of the Popular and Military Defense Forces, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansary, Governor of Fayoum, and Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, exchanged honorary shields.
Families of martyrs, outstanding students, and students with disabilities were also honored.
