The meeting was attended by Ambassador Hisham Badr, General Supervisor of the Egypt Award for Excellence in Government, Dr. Mona Hagras, Assistant Secretary of the Council, and Mrs. Soha Saeed, Executive Director of the Award.
The workshop was attended by the Fayoum University Internal Awards Management Team, which included: Prof. Arafa Sabry Gomaa Hassan, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies, Cultural Relations, and Research and Team Leader; Prof. Masoud Ismail Masoud Shahin, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development at the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence, Portal Manager, and Technology Support Officer; Prof. Tamer Magdy Essa Fahim, Director of Quality Assurance and Evaluation Officer; Mrs. Hala El-Suwaify, Director General of Public Relations and Media and Operations and Logistics Support Officer; and Mrs. Amira Hassan Gebreel, Communications and Public Relations Officer.
In his speech, Ambassador Hesham Badr emphasized that institutional excellence is an ongoing journey that requires a constant commitment to improvement and development. He emphasized the importance of providing high-quality educational services to citizens, and that excellence can only be achieved through an institutional culture that places citizens at the core of its objectives. Dr. Mona Hagras praised the role of the Egypt Government Excellence Award in deepening and spreading the culture of quality and excellence within Egyptian universities. This has had a positive impact on improving institutional performance and fostering a spirit of constructive competition among faculties. This has led to the launch of the Internal Excellence Awards initiative, which represents an important step toward consolidating the concept of sustainable excellence. She also called on universities to actively participate in the awards, given their significant role in highlighting good practices and discovering university talent. She emphasized that evaluation and training open new horizons for professional and institutional development within higher education institutions.
Prof. Arafa Sabry stated that Fayoum University's participation is part of a series of workshops organized by the Award's administration in cooperation with the Supreme Council of Universities. Fayoum University will join the Internal Excellence System for the first time, with the goal of activating the institutional excellence system, disseminating the experience, and expanding the scope of the internal excellence system's application across various public universities nationwide. This will also help qualify and train internal award teams at universities to serve as a direct link with the Egypt Award for Government Excellence management team in implementing the award's stages. This is in line with the state's vision to support and develop institutional performance at Egyptian universities.
For her part, Mrs. Soha Saeed emphasized that the launch of the third edition of the Internal Awards System complements the internal excellence process within government institutions. She added that the internal awards are, in turn, mandatory and qualify colleges to compete in the upcoming national award, the "Egypt Award for Government Excellence."
The workshop aims to build institutional capacity within public universities and enhance the readiness of the teams responsible for internal awards to serve as a direct link with the Egypt Award for Government Excellence management team in implementing the award's stages at universities joining the Internal Excellence System for the first time. Dr. Abdel Hakim Radwan, Evaluation and Quality Consultant for the Egypt Government Excellence Award, attended the workshop. He gave a detailed presentation on managing the Internal Excellence Awards, covering the implementation steps, starting with announcing the awards, training excellence ambassadors, opening nominations, managing the desk and consensus evaluation stages, field visits, and personal interviews, all the way to the arbitration and honoring of the winners. The team structure, tasks, and responsibilities were also reviewed, along with a presentation of the themes and criteria of the institutional excellence system. It is worth noting that the third edition of the Internal Excellence Awards will witness significant expansion, with the participation of 27 public universities from across the country, including 14 universities participating for the first time. This reflects the state's commitment to instilling a culture of excellence in all its educational institutions.
