Under the auspices of Prof.Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, Prof. Assem Al-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, received Prof. Neddemp Calfor, Professor of Engineering at the University of Greenwich in the United Kingdom, Dr. Marwa Abdel-Azeem, Director of Education Programs, and Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed, Education Programs Officer at the British Council. The meeting was held on the sidelines of a workshop on "Occupational Safety and Health in Engineering." The meeting was attended by Prof. Ahmed Abdel-Latif, Director of the Center for Measurement and Evaluation and Professor at the Faculty of Engineering at Fayoum University, a number of faculty members, students, and representatives of labor market institutions. The meeting was held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence. Prof. Ahmed Abdel Latif explained that the "Occupational Safety and Health in Engineering" project is a partnership between Fayoum University and the British Council. It aims to create communication channels between industry professionals, faculty members, students, and recent engineering graduates. This will contribute to the integration of graduates with the requirements of the labor market and consolidate the concept of occupational health and safety in the engineering field.

For his part, Prof. Nedendumbe Calfor discussed the concept of occupational health and safety as one of the basic requirements for avoiding risks in the engineering work environment, noting the importance of developing curricula to keep pace with labor market needs. He also called for a focus on the practical aspect and for students to acquire diverse skills and experiences, while also highlighting the need to open student exchange channels between Egyptian universities and their counterparts in the United Kingdom. He listened to and answered questions from the audience during the open discussion. In his speech, Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed explained that the British Council was established in the Arab Republic of Egypt more than 90 years ago and was the first British cultural office outside the United Kingdom. He noted that Britain places great importance on supporting cultural exchange with various countries around the world, particularly Egypt.

He added that the United Kingdom supports cross-border educational programs, and that Egypt ranks fifth globally in educational cooperation with Britain. He emphasized that the British Council focuses on supporting joint research addressing international issues and provides job opportunities for graduates from British universities, in addition to annual awards given to influential graduates in their countries upon their return from studying in the United Kingdom in various scientific, artistic, sports, and cultural fields.

He also indicated that the Council is currently working to facilitate the establishment of branches of British universities in Egypt, to enhance academic cooperation between the two countries.
