Under the patronage of Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, and within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Special Olympics Egypt, Prof. Sherif El-Attar, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, inaugurated the "University Unity and Intgration Day" activities on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the University's Central Library.

The event was attended by Dr. Ahmed Sarhan, Director of the Health Program; Dr. Tarek El-Naggar, Director of Initiatives at Special Olympics Egypt; Dr. Ibrahim Gomaa, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Department at the Ministry of Youth and Sports; Prof. Wael Tobar, General Coordinator of Student Activities; Dr. Rania Shaaban, Director of the University's Center for Students with Disabilities; Ms. Salwa Fouad, Director General of Student Welfare; and a number of administrators and students. Prof. Sherif El-Attar emphasized Fayoum University's commitment to providing for all the needs of its students with disabilities, as well as making available all the necessary material, human, and technological resources to overcome any obstacles they may face during their university studies. He explained that this meeting was part of the activities of the National Project for Raising Youth Awareness on the Best Practices for Interacting with People with Disabilities in Academic and Professional Life.

During the meeting, the guests explained that this day was part of the Egyptian Special Olympics' strategy aimed at spreading a culture of intgration and awareness among university and higher institute students. They pointed out that the National Project for Raising Youth Awareness represents an important step towards building a more understanding and accepting society for people with disabilities in academic and scientific fields.

The meeting also included introducing the students to the programs and activities of the Egyptian Special Olympics and its goals in supporting and empowering people with intellectual disabilities. Discussions also focused on ways to overcome bullying and face various life challenges, with the aim of promoting the concept of inclusion and positive interaction between youth and people with intellectual disabilities.
