The university appeared in the Agricultural Sciences category, ranking in the 301-400 band among the top 500 universities globally, and securing fifth place among Egyptian universities. The university also distinguished itself by appearing for the first time in the Energy Sciences and Engineering category, ranking in the 301-400 band among the top 400 universities worldwide, and achieving second place among Egyptian universities.

It is worth noting that the Shanghai Ranking, in its current edition, included 57 academic disciplines across the fields of natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences, and social sciences. The ranking relies on the Clarivate database as its data source, and universities are evaluated according to five key criteria:

First, World-Class Faculty: (Laureates, Highly Cited Researchers, Chief Editors of International Academic Journals, and International Academic Organization Leadership); Second, World-Class Output: (Number of papers published in top-quality journals and international academic awards); Third, Number of papers published in Q1 journals; Fourth, Qualitative Citation Index (CCI) per branch; Fifth, Percentage of papers published in collaboration with international researchers.
