The faculty’s departments

The faculty consist of the following scientific departments:

1-Department of tourism studies:

That include the following fields: economics of tourism and hosting, management of works of travel and tourism, tourism marketing, the tourism developmental and planning, management and organization the works of tourism companies and travel offices, tourism transfer and its economics ,system of information technology and its hotels and tourism applicable ,tourism statistics and accounting, tourism geography, tourism equipment, tourism legislation, human resources and public relations, management and organization of conferences and events and project.

2-Department of tourism hotels:

That include the following fields:Management of catering and hospitality institutions, operations of food and drinks production,operations of food and drinks management, buying and receive food and its storage and its quality of control, hotels service, health affairs in hospitality and catering, establishments,feeding and food lists ,hotels accounting ,hotels preparing,hotels marketing management of parties and ceremonies ,crisis Management, human resources, hotel supervision and control, hotel service and maintenance, project .

3-Department of tourism guiding:

That include the following fields: Egypt history and its effects and its civilization on the ages, religion and ancient Egyptian art, the ancient Egyptian language, the modern Egypt history and its modern features, the tourism guiding, arts and architecture on the different ages, tourism geography.

The fayoum university council gift the following scientific degrees according to the suggestion of the faculty of hotels and tourism:

Bachelor degree of hotels and tourism in the following specialist:

The higher studies degree of hotels and tourism in the following specialist:

Master degree of hotels and tourism in the following specialist:

The roles of bachelor:

A. To get the bachelor, you should study 4 years in 2 semesters .the study is general in the group

B. Student’s distribution is being according to departments abilities and subjects that the faculty council decide. Success at language and the ancient Egyptian history is necessary to join the field of tourism guiding.

C. Studying is in Arabic and the faculty council can decide studying two or more subjects in the foreign language according to the suggestion of the specialist departments. After the approved of the specialist departments and the approved of the faculty council, it can study some parts of the subjects in one of the foreign language.

D. The specialist foreign language and the ancient Arabic language are a connected courses that the student do its exams at the end of the second semester .the project is a course that the students discuses it through two weeks after the writing exams.

E. Students of tourism studies and hotels management take a summer training between the second and the third group also between the third and the fourth group, not less than a month. The training is be under the supervisorof the members of the faculty and their assistants and the training reports should sent to the department of the students affairs .Training is consider a course of success and failure as other courses and has no grades and the result shall be (successful) or (failing).

F. The transfer exams and bachelor exams hold at the end of each semester in the courses that the student study. The complexity of backwardness exams in courses in which the student backward from previous years in the week before semester exams taught by courses in which the student backward, not calculated for the year and the work behind in the correction of the great decision of the end

G. To do the writing exams in any course the attending rate should be no less than 75%.The council’s collage, according to the decision of the specialist department can forbid student from the exam in the course in which he doesn’t attend this rate .In this case student consider fail unless he give an acceptable excuse.

H. The degree of the work of the year is estimated at 30-40% of the final grade. The student's regularity in the study and the oral and written tests are included in the rate of two tests per semester. In addition, a written or applied test may be conducted at the end of the semester.

I. Students of the fourth group at the department of tourism study and hotels management prepare a project at the final year and it has an extra period after the writing exams that determined by the collage council but no more two weeks. Student who fail in the project return the year.

J. Student move to the next year, if he success at all courses or if he sail in no more than two courses.

K. The student will take the exam in the course of the failure of the courses. In addition, his success in these courses is considered acceptable unless he has failed to take the exam with an acceptable excuse.

L. In November each year, an exam shall be held for the final students who are retarded in no more than two courses. The training shall be treated as one of the subjects and has no grades and the result shall be (successful) or (failing).

M. If the final exam in one of the courses an oral, writing, or applicable test Student assessment in this course consist of degrees of oral, writing andapplicable. Student who absent in the writing test consider absent in the course and has no degree.Also, the student is not considered successful in any course unless he has the minimum degree.

N. Students must obtain at least 30% of the written examination scores. In the event that this requirement is not met, the student will be considered as failed in this course.

O. The student's success in the courses and in the general assessment is estimated in one of the following estimates:

 excellent More than 85%
Very good From75%to less than85%
good From65%to less than75%
Acceptable From50%to less than65%

 
The student's failureis estimated in one of the following estimates:

weak From35%to less than50%
Very weak less than35%

 

The organized roles for diploma

The student's entry into the higher studies diploma requires the following:

· He must has a high qualification from one of the universities of the Arab Republic of Egypt or an equivalent degree from a recognized scientific institute. It is required that the assessment of the first degree is [good] at least as a condition for completion of the higher studies for the master's and PhD. degrees.

· Preferably, who work in the field of tourism, hotels and tourist guiding.

· He should passsuccessfully the capacity tests that determined by the College Council based on the proposals of the specialist department and the higherstudies committee to confirm the validity of the study in the field required to enroll.

· The duration of the study for obtaining any of the higher studies diplomas is two academic years.

· The student must obtain a higher studies diploma in order to continue the study and success in all courses.

· The student do the written exams at the end of the academic year.

· Student move to the next year, if he success at all courses or if he sail in no more than two courses.

· In November of each year, an exam is hold for the final group in no more two courses

· The student will be dismissed if he failed again and does not enter the recalculation account due to absence with an acceptable excuse
