لما اتبنى السد العالي سنة 1970، كان بداية فصل جديد في تاريخ مصر. قبل كده، فيضان النيل كان ممكن يدمّر أراضي ومنازل، والجفاف كان يهدد حياة ملايين. لكن مع السد العالي، مصر قدرت تسيطر على النيل لأول مرة في تاريخها.
