:The Teacher Excellence Initiative (TEI) is
A project funded by USAID and implemented by EDC. The initiative works to improve the quality of teacher education in Egyptian universities so that teachers possess the skills necessary to support student learning and advance Education Reform 2.0 in Egypt through pre-service and in-service teacher preparation programs. The project started in April 2022 and is expected to continue until April 2027, with implementation across several Egyptian governorates and an estimated budget of $5 million. The initiative also seeks to strengthen the capacities of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Supreme Council of Universities to align teacher education programs with national reform efforts and apply international best practices.
