In line
with the directives of Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and
Scientific Research, to implement the "Tamkeen" presidential
initiative launched by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President
of the Republic, to promote the rights of people with disabilities and support
their full integration into the university community. This initiative, under
the patronage of Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, and
the supervision of Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service
and Environmental Development, the University's Disability Unit organized a
workshop at the Faculty of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence as part
of the "Tamkeen" presidential initiative, under the slogan
"Together Towards an Inclusive Future." The workshop, which will be
held from October 25 to 30 at Fayoum University, will be held today, Sunday,
October 26, 2025, at the faculty.
The
event was attended by Dr. Rania Shaaban, Director of the Center for Student
Services with Disabilities, Dr. Ahmed Salama, Lecturer at the Faculty of
Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence and Student Activities
Coordinator, and a number of administrators and students. Dr. Rania Shaaban
pointed out that the initiative aims to spread a culture of academic and social
inclusion, enhance understanding of the nature of students with disabilities,
facilitate communication with them, provide their needs within the university
community, and overcome the obstacles and challenges they face to prepare
capable future leaders. It also aims to highlight the efforts of support
centers in the areas of empowerment, equality, and equal opportunities, and
raise awareness of the importance of providing academic and social support to
students with disabilities, ensuring an inclusive educational environment that
enables them to maximize their potential.
For his
part, Dr. Ahmed Salama emphasized the importance of the initiative in raising
awareness of the rights and duties of students with disabilities and how to
deal with them. He added that the Faculty of Computers and Artificial
Intelligence plays a prominent role in supporting and empowering students with
disabilities. Over the years, students of the college have presented several
graduation projects, innovations, and master's and doctoral theses aimed at
helping people with various disabilities adapt and integrate into society.
