Under the patronage of Prof. Yasser
Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, Prof. Sherif El-Attar, Vice
President for Education and Student Affairs, received Sheikh Ashraf Shaaban
Mohamed, Imam and Preacher at the Ministry of Religious Endowments, during the
closing ceremony of the Quran Recitation Course, "Masterpieces of
Recitation and Mastery of Melodic Modes." The course, organized by the
General Administration for Student Welfare (Department of Cultural and Artistic
Activities), was held from March 8th to 10th, 2026. Also present were Prof. Wael
Tobar, General Coordinator of Student Activities; Prof. El-Sayed Ahmed
El-Haddad; Dr. Ali Sultan, faculty members of the Faculty of Dar Al-Ulum; Mr.
Hassan Shaheen, Director of the Department of Cultural and Artistic Activities;
and a number of administrators and students. The ceremony took place on
Tuesday, March 10th, 2026, at the Central Library.
Prof.
Wael Tobar affirmed that the "Masterpieces of Recitation" course is
part of the activities welcoming the holy month, especially the last ten days
of Ramadan. He emphasized Fayoum University's commitment to repeating this
course to motivate and encourage all its members to excel in memorizing and
reciting the Holy Quran.
Sheikh
Ashraf Shaaban Mohammad explained that Ramadan is a month of
"profit," during which people dedicate themselves to acts of worship
and are keen on prayer and fasting. He added that the Holy Quran has rules and
guidelines that must be observed during recitation, including pauses and
starting points, rules of nasalization, and the connection of words. For this
reason, he stressed that learning the Quran can only be achieved through direct
instruction from skilled sheikhs. He pointed out that memorization may seem
difficult at first, but with determination, it becomes easier, especially since
reading the Holy Quran is an act of worship and memorizing it is a blessing
from Allah to His servants. He called upon everyone to learn the etiquette of
the Holy Quran and make it a way of life.
On the
sidelines of the ceremony, Prof. Sherif Al-Attar presented the university’s
shield to Sheikh Ashraf Shaaban Muhammad in appreciation of his eminence.
