Under the patronage of Prof.
Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, Prof. Arafa Sabry, Vice
President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Sherif Mohamed
El-Attar, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, attended the
reception ceremony for new students at the Faculty of Science.
The ceremony was attended by Prof.
Ahmed Gaber Shedid, Former President of the University, Prof. Mohamed Saeed Abu
El-Ghar, Former Acting President of the University, Prof. Somaya El-Sayed
Gouda, Acting Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Saleh El-Awny, Former Dean of the
Faculty, Prof. Ahmed Roby Shafei, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs,
Prof. Abdel Kareem Mohamed Abdel Latif, Former Vice Dean for Community Service
and Environmental Development, Dr. Mohamed Salah Mahmoud, Director of the
Academic Guidance Unit at the Faculty, heads of departments and administrators
at the Faculty. The ceremony was held on Monday, September 22, 2025, in the
Faculty's main auditorium.
Prof. Arafa Sabry expressed his
happiness at this ceremony, wishing the students a successful year. He thanked
the college and university administrations for their continuous support. He
also urged students to focus, persevere, and benefit from the expertise of the
college's faculty members.
Prof. Sherif El-Attar
congratulated the students on the new academic year, noting that science is one
of the fields that has won the most Nobel Prizes. He advised students to take
advantage of university life, commit to attendance, and participate in the
sports, cultural, and artistic activities offered by the university that are
suitable for their different abilities.
Prof. Ahmed Gaber Shedid welcomed
the students, noting the implementation of the new regulations that give
students the freedom to choose their department. He urged them to be proud of
belonging to the Faculty of Science, emphasizing the Faculty's hosting of the
Geological Museum, which houses approximately 2,500 geological specimens.
Prof. Mohamed Saeed Abu El-Ghar
spoke about the paternal relationship between faculty members and students,
urging them to persevere and work hard in their pursuit of knowledge. Prof.
Somaya El-Sayed Gouda emphasized the importance of students acquiring the
skills necessary for the job market. She urged students to be consistent and
committed to theoretical and practical attendance, and to choose the
appropriate department, noting that the college's departments and programs align
with the requirements of the job market.
Prof. Saleh Al-Awny thanked the Faculty
administration for its continuity, sustainability, efforts, and wise
management. He noted that the Faculty has six departments and urged students to
obey Allah, be dutiful to their parents, gain experience, and study diligently.
Prof. Ahmed Roby provided a
detailed explanation of the new credit hour system regulations, registration
rules, and deadlines. He also introduced the various student activities offered
by the university and college, urging students to participate in them as they
do not conflict with their studies. He also introduced them to the Academic
Advising Unit and the important role of the academic advisor in assisting
students in choosing courses.
The discussion was also opened and
student inquiries were answered. At the conclusion of the ceremony, outstanding
students from all levels were honored, as were those who excelled in student
activities.
