Master’s Thesis Defense at the Department of Geographical Studies

Under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Dr. Assem Fouad Al-Essawi, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development and Supervisor of the Institute, the Master’s thesis of the researcher Abdel Fattah Bahgat Amin Othman was discussed today, Wednesday الموافق 24/12/2025, at the Department of Geographical Studies at the Institute. The thesis is in the field of Human Geography (Political Geography) and is entitled:
“The Republic of Sudan after 2011: A Study in Political Geography Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS).”

Supervision:

  1. Prof. Dr. Hassan Mohamed Ibrahim Hassouna – Professor of Human Geography and former Dean of the Institute of Research and Strategic Studies of the Nile Basin Countries, Fayoum University – Principal Supervisor.

  2. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Fouad Ibrahim Al-Maghazi – Assistant Professor of Human Geography, Institute of Afro-Asian Studies, Suez Canal University – Supervisor.

Examination and Evaluation Committee:

  1. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hassan Ibrahim – Professor of Human Geography and former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University – Chairman and Examiner.

The discussion was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sayed Saeed, Professor of Agricultural Economics and former Dean of the Institute; Prof. Dr. Adly Saadawy, Professor of Agricultural Economics and former Dean of the Institute; Prof. Dr. Nasser Abdel-Sattar Al-Sharaei, Professor of Physical Geography and Vice Dean for Graduate Studies; Dr. Hamed Al-Assafouri, Assistant Professor of Physical Geography and Head of the Department of Geographical Studies; Prof. Dr. Hany Abu Al-Ela, Professor of Human Geography and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Maher Saadawy, Assistant Professor of Economic Geography at the Faculty of African Graduate Studies, Cairo University; Dr. Ahmed Mostafa Marwan, Lecturer in Population Geography at the Department of Geographical Studies; along with faculty members, postgraduate students, and a number of the researcher’s family and colleagues.
