At exactly 9:00 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, the Council of the Department of Geographical Studies convened under the chairmanship of Dr. Hamed Hamed Mohamed Awad Al-Asfoury, Assistant Professor of Physical Geography and Acting Head of the Department Council of Geographical Studies, in the presence of the esteemed council members as follows:

Prof. Dr. Hassan Mohamed Ibrahim Hassouna, Emeritus Professor of Human Geography and former Dean of the Institute;

Prof. Dr. Nasser Abdel-Sattar Abdel-Hadi, Professor of Physical Geography in the Department, Vice Dean of the Institute for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Acting Dean of the Institute;

and Dr. Ahmed Mostafa Gomaa Abdel-Wahed, Lecturer of Population Geography in the Department.

The meeting commenced with Dr. Hamed Hamed Mohamed Awad Al-Asfoury, Acting Head of the Department Council, opening his remarks with the phrase “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,” welcoming the esteemed members of the Council and extending his congratulations to Prof. Dr. Nasser Abdel-Sattar Abdel-Hadi on the occasion of the issuance of the decision by His Excellency the President of the University appointing him as Acting Dean of the Institute.

The Council then proceeded to discuss the agenda items, during which the minutes of the previous meeting were approved, in addition to approving the formation of marking committees for the courses of the Geographic Information Systems Diploma and the Master’s degree programs in the Department, as well as approving the lecture schedule for the second semester of the academic year 2025/2026
