Under
the patronage of Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, and
the supervision of Prof. Sherif El-Attar, Vice President for Education and
Student Affairs, and in the presence of Prof. Wael Tobar, General Coordinator
of Student Activities at the University, the Cultural and Artistic Activities
Department of the General Administration for Student Welfare organized a course
on Quranic recitation entitled "Masterpieces of Recitation and Mastery of
Melodic Modes." The course was held from March 8th to 10th, 2026, at the
University's Central Library.
The
course aimed to develop students' skills and strengthen their connection to the
Holy Quran, discover exceptional voices in reciting the Quran correctly
according to the rules of Tajweed (Quranic recitation), provide practical
training in improving vocal performance and mastering the articulation points
and characteristics of letters, introduce the aesthetics of recitation and the
masterpieces of reciters, and train participants in the fundamentals of vocal
modes and how to utilize them in serving Quranic recitation in a way that
combines correct performance, beautiful voice, and positive impact.
It is worth noting that the science of Tajweed aims to preserve the recitation of the Quran from errors and mispronunciation, ensuring the correct articulation of letters from their points of articulation, while also focusing on the beauty of performance and the magnificence of the voice, thus fostering reverence and contemplation.
This course is taught by Professor
Dr. Sayed Ahmed Gomaa Al-Haddad and Dr. Ali Sultan, from the Department of
Islamic Law at the Faculty of Dar Al-Uoom, through a training program that
combines theoretical and practical aspects to develop students' skills in
recitation, Tajweed, and mastery of the different modes of recitation.
