Dr.
Mohamed Hany Ghoneim, Governor of Fayoum, accompanied by Prof. Yasser Magdy
Hatata, President of Fayoum University, inspected the university hospitals on
Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Also present were Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice
President of the University for Community Service and Environmental
Development; Prof. Naglaa El-Sherbiny, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; and
Prof. Mohamed Safaa, Director of the University Hospitals.
Dr.
Ghoneim expressed his appreciation for the level of performance and resources
he witnessed during his inspection tour of the university hospitals. He
commended the efforts of the university and hospital administration in serving
the citizens. He added that the governorate is fully committed to developing
the healthcare system to a standard befitting the people of Fayoum, and
emphasized the importance of collaboration between the governorate and the
university to advance the health sector.
Prof.
Yasser Hatata affirmed that university hospitals represent a leading medical
institution serving thousands of citizens in the governorate. He noted that the
university is constantly working to develop the infrastructure and increase the
hospitals' capacity, which has reached more than 900 beds across the surgical,
internal medicine, and Mustafa Hassan University Children's Hospitals. He also
highlighted the university's commitment to training staff to provide the
highest levels of healthcare, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
`He
further indicated that Fayoum University is giving considerable attention to
the swift completion of the construction and equipping of the university cancer
treatment center, according to the established plan. This center will represent
a qualitative leap in the healthcare services provided to the people of Fayoum
and the governorates of Upper Egypt.
In the
same context, Prof. Mohamed Safaa explained that the hospital includes
outpatient clinics and specialized departments of the highest standard. These
include the emergency department, intensive care unit, CT scan unit, endoscopy
unit, and operating rooms equipped with the latest technologies, in addition to
a central sterilization room. He noted that the hospital receives an increasing
number of cases daily across all specialties. The hospital also provides
medical analysis services. He expressed his gratitude to the university
administration and the governorate for their continuous support in achieving the
best possible health services for university hospitals, ensuring healthcare
befitting the residents of the governorate.
During
the tour, the various departments were inspected, the available resources and
medical services provided to patients were reviewed, and work was monitored in
the specialized departments, intensive care unit, surgical care, cardiac care,
emergency department, orthopedics, surgery, laundry, and central sterilization
unit.
It is
worth mentioning that this visit comes within the framework of the governorate
and Fayoum University's plan to develop the health sector and improve the
quality of healthcare services provided to citizens.
