Under
the patronage of Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University,
Prof. Assem Fouad El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental
Development, and Prof. Aliaa Abdel Moneim, Dean of the Faculty of Early
Childhood Education, inaugurated the "Environmental Week" activities
organized by the Faculty. The event was attended by Prof. Nour El-Ramady, Former
Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Raghda El-Sawy, Vice Dean for Education and Student
Affairs, Prof. Mohamed Mahmoud, Professor at the Faculty and Coordinator of
Environmental Week, along with a number of faculty members, staff, and
students. Kindergarten students from several schools also participated. The
event took place on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the Faculty.
Prof.
Assem El-Essawy emphasized that these events are a crucial step in instilling
environmental responsibility, particularly regarding conservation practices. He
stressed that this is a societal responsibility that begins with individual
awareness and directly reflects the level of environmental consciousness. He
added that instilling these concepts in children from an early age is a
national duty. He also highlighted the objectives of the Environmental Week,
which include recycling, sustainability, tree planting, and energy conservation.
For her
part, Prof. Aliaa Abdel Moneim noted that the Environmental Week activities
align with the Egyptian state's commitment to achieving sustainable development
and preserving the environment. She explained that this initiative represents a
genuine call to adopt positive environmental behaviors, starting with the
individual and extending to the entire community, thus contributing to building
a conscious society that safeguards the nation's resources for future
generations.
During
the Environmental Week events, Prof. Assem El-Essawy inaugurated and toured an
exhibition entitled "Between Environmental Awareness and Creative
Touch," curated by Dr. Lamia Moustafa Sadek, Director of the Educational
Resources Unit. The exhibited works play a vital role in developing children's
artistic and motor skills.
The
environmental week also included a theatrical and musical performance by the
children.
