Under
the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Hany Ghoneim, Governor of Fayoum, and Prof. Yasser
Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University, and under the supervision of
Prof. Assem Fouad El-Essawy, Vice President of the University for Community
Service and Environmental Development, the university organized a veterinary convoy
in the village of Biahmo, Senores Center, Fayoum Governorate.
This
was done in cooperation with the Fayoum Veterinary Directorate, the Veterinary
Syndicate, and the Food Inspection and Control Department of the General
Administration of University Cities, under the supervision of Mr. Abdel Nasser
Bakry, Director General of the General Administration for Community Service and
Environmental Development at the university, on Monday, May 18, 2026.
Prof. Assem
Fouad El-Essawy indicated that participation in the veterinary convoy stems
from Fayoum University's role and the mission of the Community Service and
Environmental Development sector to provide diverse services to the local
community, including organizing free veterinary treatment caravans to centers
and villages in Fayoum Governorate. This aims to strengthen the partnership
between the university and the community in various fields, including
veterinary healthcare. The caravans aim to improve and preserve livestock,
enhance rural life, and support veterinary health in villages.
He
added that the veterinary convoy saw significant participation from specialized
veterinarians, who examined and treated 1,429 cases of cattle and sheep free of
charge, with the goal of improving and preserving livestock production.
It is
worth noting that 465 cases received oral medication, 389 were dewormed, and 87
cases of internal diseases, including poisoning, respiratory, and digestive
ailments, were treated.
Furthermore,
233 cases (102 sheep, 92 cows, and 39 buffalo) were examined using ultrasound,
27 cases related to reproductive diseases were addressed, and 325 poultry were
treated and vaccinated.
Dr.
Wagdy Moustafa, Director of the Veterinary Directorate in Fayoum, affirmed that
the veterinary caravans organized by Fayoum University significantly contribute
to supporting livestock breeders and alleviating their burdens. He pointed out
that parasitic and reproductive diseases represent the most prominent
challenges facing breeders in the governorate, and that providing sustainable
veterinary care for these animals helps improve their productivity and ensure
their overall health.
Dr. Ali
Saad, Head of the Veterinary Syndicate in Fayoum, stated that the veterinary convoy
come at a time when the livestock sector in the governorate is facing numerous
challenges, most notably a lack of health awareness among breeders, which
exposes livestock to health risks that ultimately affect the local economy.
