The Faculty of Medicine at Fayoum University organized
a ceremony to honor Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, the University President, in
appreciation of his efforts during his presidency. The ceremony was attended by
Prof. Galal Mostafa Saeed, former Minister of Transport; Prof. Saad Nassar,
former Governor of Fayoum; Prof. Abdel Hamid Abdel Tawab, former President of
Fayoum University; Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service
and Environmental Development; Prof. Sherif El-Attar, Vice President for
Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Ayman El-Essawy, Professor of Surgery and
Academic Vice President of Fayoum National University; Prof. Naglaa
El-Sherbiny, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; and Prof. Hamdy Ibrahim. The Dean
of the Medical Sector at Fayoum National University, Prof. Essam Ali Hassan,
Professor of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the Faculty of Medicine,
Fayoum University, Mr. Ahmed Rashad, Secretary General of the University, Mr.
Amr Mady, Assistant Secretary of the University for Financial Affairs, and a
number of current and former Vice Deans of the Faculty of Medicine and faculty
members, were present on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata expressed his sincere thanks
and appreciation to all attendees, especially the former Presidents of Fayoum
University, the Vice Presidents, and the Deans and Vice Deans of the faculties.
He emphasized his happiness at being honored among his colleagues and family at
the Faculty of Medicine, to which he belongs and of which he is proud to be a
member.
The University President affirmed that assuming the
presidency of the university is a national duty and a mission that requires
bearing significant responsibilities in various academic, research, and service
sectors. He noted that he has exerted his utmost effort to fulfill this trust
with dedication, and that the achievements realized were the fruit of
institutional work and cooperation among all members of the university
community. He pointed to the remarkable development witnessed by the medical
sector at Fayoum University in recent years, explaining that the university now
boasts three university hospitals: the Surgery Hospital, the Internal Medicine
Hospital, and the University Children's Hospital. A fourth university hospital
will soon be added, reflecting the significant advancements in the university's
medical infrastructure, in addition to its highly qualified and distinguished
medical, nursing, and administrative staff.
Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata concluded his remarks by
extending his best wishes to Fayoum University for continued success and
leadership in various fields.
Prof. Assem El-Essawy also expressed his deep
appreciation to Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, emphasizing that their years of
working together were filled with fruitful contributions and that he gained
invaluable administrative and interpersonal experience. He wished him continued
success and prosperity.
Prof. Sherif El-Attar affirmed that this day embodies
the highest ideals of loyalty and affection, noting the high regard in which
Prof. Hatata is held. The love and appreciation shown to Prof. Yasser Magdy
Hatata is a reflection of his dedication and contributions, highlighting the
personal benefit he derived from Hatata's extensive experience in university
work.
Prof. Abdel Hamid Abdel Tawwab noted that the Faculty
of Medicine is always united by a spirit of love, cooperation, and
communication, making it a model for other faculties within the university. He
also emphasized the faculty's distinguished academic standing across various
disciplines.
Prof. Ayman El-Essawy reviewed his long history of
collaboration with Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, spanning over twenty-seven years
since their time in the Department of Surgery. He praised Prof. Hatata's
exemplary character and his unwavering commitment to overseeing all university
and faculty affairs with utmost dedication.
Prof. Naglaa El-Sherbiny explained that the Faculty of
Medicine witnessed remarkable development across various sectors during Prof. Hatata's
tenure as Dean. This included the faculty's accreditation by the National
Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, as well as a
significant increase in internationally published research, further solidifying
the Faculty of Medicine's position at Fayoum University among leading medical
colleges.
Prof. Hamdy
Ibrahim emphasized that Fayoum University witnessed several significant
milestones during this period, most notably the establishment of Fayoum
National University in record time—a project that represented a long-awaited
achievement for all residents of Fayoum Governorate.
In his address on university hospitals, Prof. Mohamed
Safaa El-Din, Executive Director of Fayoum University Hospitals, reviewed the
university's role during the COVID-19 pandemic and the opening of the isolation
hospital, which played a vital role in providing healthcare and increasing
patient recovery rates in Fayoum Governorate.
On the sidelines of the celebration, a documentary
film was screened showcasing the most prominent milestones and career of Prof.
Yasser Magdy Hatata since his appointment as President of Fayoum University by
presidential decree in December 2021, highlighting the university's
achievements and developments across various sectors during that period.
At the conclusion of the celebration, Prof. Naglaa
El-Sherbiny, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, presented Prof. Yasser Magdy
Hatata with the Faculty of Medicine's shield in recognition of his dedicated
service and sincere efforts during his tenure as President of the University.
