Under
the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Hany Ghoneim, Governor of Fayoum, and Prof. Sherif
El-Attar, Acting President of Fayoum University, and under the supervision of
Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President of the University for Community Service
and Environmental Development, a comprehensive medical and development convoy
was implemented in Kafr Aboud village, Abshway Center, on Monday, August 10,
2026.
This
was done under the supervision of Prof. Naglaa El-Sherbiny, Dean of the Faculty
of Medicine, Prof. Lamia Ahmed Ibrahim, Dean of the Faculty of Oral and Dental
Medicine, and Dr. Mohamed Gamal Salama, Director of the Fayoum Health
Directorate, in cooperation with the Faculty of Social Work and the
University's Community Problems Monitoring Unit, and under the supervision of
Mr. Abdel Nasser Bakry, Director General of the General Administration for
Community Service and Environmental Development, and Ms. Shaimaa Mohamed
Ramadan, Director of the Seminars and Conferences Department at the
Administration.
Prof.
Assem El-Essawy emphasized that the convoy aimed to enhance healthcare and
community services provided to the most vulnerable families and the neediest
villages. Medical examinations and free treatment were provided to 1,393
residents of Kafr Aboud village and neighboring villages. These included 274
internal medicine cases, 93 dental cases, 297 dermatology cases, 289 pediatric
cases, 129 ear, nose, and throat cases, and 311 rheumatology cases. In
addition, necessary medical guidance and health awareness were provided to
those visiting the medical caravan.
During
the caravan, Dr. Ola Gamal Ahmed, Professor of Development and Planning at the
Faculty of Social Work, addressed several community issues, including:
development begins with the individual; literacy is the first step in
development and its role in improving the lives of individuals and families;
education is a right for everyone, regardless of age; and she urged everyone to
participate actively and take advantage of available opportunities and
initiatives.
Dr.
Islam El-Sayed Ali, Assistant Professor in the Department of Development and
Planning at the Faculty of Social Work, explained how to rationalize
consumption and shift from impulsive consumption to planning and prioritizing.
He also discussed the impact of certain marriage customs and social events on
increasing financial burdens due to competition and fear of social judgment. He
further elaborated on the role of social work in raising awareness, changing
behavior, and supporting families towards more conscious and balanced
consumption. He emphasized that rationalization is not about depriving oneself
of life, but rather about conscious resource management and building a more
stable family.
The
Community Problems Monitoring Unit, under the supervision of Dr. Basma
Abdel-Latif, conducted a comprehensive field survey to identify the needs of
the village residents in the health, education, social, and various service
sectors. The survey aimed to identify the most prominent challenges related to
infrastructure, job opportunities, and improving income levels, thus
contributing to the development of an accurate database to support local
development plans and improve quality of life.
Mr.
Abdel-Nasser Bakry explained that the outreach initiative reflects Fayoum
University's commitment to strengthening its community role and actively
participating in presidential initiatives aimed at improving the level of
health and social services provided to citizens in various villages and centers
throughout the governorate.
