Field inspection visit by the University’s Crisis and Disaster Management Center to the Institute

Fayoum University Enhances Occupational Safety Culture and Crisis Management at the Research and Strategic Studies Institute for Nile Basin CountriesUnder the patronage of Prof. Dr. Yasser Magdy Hattata, President of Fayoum University, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Asem Fouad El-Esawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development and Supervisor of Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Nasser Abdel Sattar Abdelhady, Dean of the Research and Strategic Studies Institute for Nile Basin Countries, the University’s Crisis and Disaster Management Center, in cooperation with the Research and Strategic Studies Institute for Nile Basin Countries, continued holding workshop activities and a field inspection visit to the Institute on Monday 11 May 2026. This comes within the University’s commitment to supporting the occupational safety system and strengthening the readiness of various sectors to deal with potential crises and disasters.The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Taher Hassan Mohamed, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels and Director of the University’s Crisis and Disaster Management Center; Dr. Eman El-Hamamsy, Vice Dean of the Institute for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sayed Said, former Dean of the Institute; and Ms. Lamiaa Adel Abdel Sattar, Institute Director.In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Nasser Abdel Sattar Abdelhady expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the University President and the Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development for their continuous support of training and awareness activities aimed at improving the work environment within the University and its various institutes.During the workshop, he explained the basic concepts of crisis and disaster management in the work environment, the foundations of occupational safety and health, and the main occupational risks and diseases that may affect the health and safety of employees. He also reviewed prevention mechanisms and proper ways to deal with potential risks to ensure a safer and more stable work environment.He emphasized the importance of achieving job satisfaction, and ways to positively deal with different work environments in light of available resources, in addition to raising awareness about rationalizing the consumption of resources and energy, especially water and electricity, and promoting safe and sustainable use of devices and equipment in the workplace.Prof. Dr. Taher Hassan Mohamed stated that organizing these workshops is part of the University’s ongoing plan to follow up on the efficiency of crisis management units in different faculties and institutes, by reviewing emergency plans and evaluating rapid response mechanisms for various potential scenarios. This contributes to improving human resource efficiency and strengthening institutional capacity to manage emergency situations efficiently and effectively.He added that Fayoum University pays great attention to building an integrated crisis and disaster management system based on proactive planning, continuous training, and spreading a culture of preventive awareness, ensuring a safe and stable educational and administrative environment for all University affiliates.These efforts are part of Fayoum University’s strategy to consolidate occupational safety and security standards on campus and apply the best modern practices in crisis and disaster management, supporting sustainable institutional development and improving performance across the University’s various sectors.
